Heard a voice directly in my ear while lucid

Last night I had a few minute long lucid, though it wasn't all that clear and my memory is foggy. One thing I often do towards the beginning of a LD is chant "I will stay in this dream" or something on those lines a few times to try and reinforce the fact that it is a dream and try to convince myself it won't end quick. Usually there is no direct response from the dream for this nor do I expect it; I occasionaly get the odd whispering from DCs in the background "What is he on about?" sort of response, though nothing more than that.

This time after I said it I heard a voice and if I remember correctly (it's hazy) it said "Of course you will". It didn't sound like it was from a person near me or from inside my head, it sounded like it was directly in my ear. At the time with my reduced dream IQ, I thought the real me must have whispered it in bed and someone from the real world said that back and I heard it in the dream (which is odd because I live on my own).

Just wondered if there are any thoughts about this such as if it could be my subconscious acknowledging a request. Or at least I just wanted to mention it or see if anyone has had anything similar. It hasn't bothered me or anything but it was a very odd experience, one of the strangest I've had during lucidity, and ironically, this was longer than many of my LDs and particulary good to say it was between snoozes on my alarm clock (9 minutes).

I can't really speculate what it was. But I would see it as a positive experience. I really believe that our minds are listening to us, to our wishes and intents. And best time to talk to our mind is on a verge of sleep. You were perhaps in a state of altered consiousness, in which a reply from your mind or HH would sound just the way it did.

I get very little auditory HH, and they are mostly just sounds, not really voices. So I can't really compare it to my experience. But I like it. And the fact that your LD did last as long as you say would make me believe, that it may happen again, whether I get a direct answer from my mind, or not. happy dreams

Very interesting experience, thanks for sharing Shantak. My auditory HH are also just noises and no voices but reading about other members' experiences helps one be better mentally prepared for such surprises. I liked very much that the response of the voice was a positive one. I have no idea what the significance or meaning of this is, but as a possible explanation, I like what gab said about it being your subcon and I also think that it may be your dream guide. If so that may open the gate for some cool exploration in the future.

      Hey Shantak,
This happens to me regularly. I used to get spooked by it at first even. It's startling to hear a voice talking RIGHT NEXT to your ear but it's normal for me especially during a WILD transition. I've heard all sorts of things like you're describing where it sounds as if it's directly in my ear like music, voices, growls , bangs and swooshing, I'll even get what sounds like an AM talk radio station. That's only a partial description of the audio hallucinations. I've gotten all sorts of other things happening too like visual things (people in the room, sometimes scary), hands touching me, movement like rolling and tumbling, floating, vibrations, paralysis etc.
As far as whether it was your subconscious acknowledging your request that's exactly what I believe it is. Try summoning your subconscious self in a LD sometime and ask about it. It's pretty interesting the things you will tell yourself. I've had myself appear before as a single person, as every character in the room and even just as a voice like the voice of God in the sky. I asked to speak to my subconscious self not long ago and a strong wind came whipping up and my own voice came booming down from the sky "I'm here." I replied "I can't see you." He/I said "I know but I'm here. What do you need?" I rambled on there didn't I hope it was helpful anyways.

Thanks for the feedback, I do see it as a positive experience, I guess that's what made me want to talk about it rather than flagging it off with the other unusual stuff that happens.

As far as it being a HH; Something I didn't mention earlier but find relevant now is that another thing that happened that night though I don't remember exactly when, is that when I was going back to sleep after waking, my mind was wandering with random thoughts as it does and this time things were much more intense. I started to play some music in my head, it was a bit like when you have a song stuck in your head except it was far more detailed than what I would be able to do normally, and I was not familiar with the song. I'm not saying I have never heard it but I certainly didn't think it on the spot myself, it wandered in. I remember being dissapointed I had no way of recording it to hear later, I just let it flow. Makes me wonder if that could be related, if I was dabbling into HH territory there unintentionally, and it happened in the dream later.

I used SSILD after about 5 hours of sleep, I don't remember if this music was before or after that, I was in and out of sleep a lot that night. The lucid dream came from a false awakening a couple of hours after practicing SSILD.

The voice being my subconscious or a dream guide, both interesting thoughts and would be a good result either way I think. I've seen around the ideas of a dream guide and have never experienced anything about one (to my knowledge!), it sounds interesting. I've been LDing for years but have never really got far with it, I could do with a breakthrough whether it be a guide or my subconscious I'm starting to get access to.
