Post Communicating Directly with the Unconscious through a Lucid Dream (Question/Experiment)

Lately, I've been doing experiments that deal with communicating directly with the unconscious. I love my traditional lucid dreams where I run through forests barefoot and fly in museum, drive tanks, eat delicious foods... But, lately, I've been doing these types of experiments to try get something more tangible out of the dreamtime: I've tried talking to dream figures and tracked their 'awareness' and responsiveness while asking them questions, I've asked the dream directly by yelling a question out and receiving both verbal and symbolic responses, I've also let the dream (Subconscious) guide me, lucidly, suggested by a book I'm reading.

I get so many responses that mean so much, and they are often above my current reasoning’s. I see it as either you subconscious has information that you don’t have access to (yet), or your mind is accelerating the 'learning' and problem solving process for your brain, enabling you to figure something that you would have figured out eventually almost instantaneously. Just theories, I know, but it shows results...what can I say?

Now, to the experiment: I wanted to create an easier way to communicate with the "conscious unconscious." An idea I had was to attempt to channel/transfigure that same information and activity housed in the unconscious into a dream-object apparatus, such as a super computer. (I'm sorry if it doesn't make much sense, it is difficult to explain.) Anyway, if I were to use this super-computer to access the information in my subconscious in a visual, definitive way, how much do you think I could access? Do you think I could even surpass my waking abilities and problem solve instantly and constantly? Could I watch all my memories in a visual format? Could I speed read a book, recall, and selectively place that information into memory? I've know that we need REM sleep because it's when the brain reviews, processes, and stores information, so could you, during the REM process, essentially hack-in and highlight certain memories/information? I have a lot of questions, and a lot of theories, I just wanted to see if anyone out there had any on this too.

*I have had success with communicating with the unconscious, so I know that it is alive and conscious. After all, your subconscious is what makes your dreams, its what makes that person blond and that person short, it's what makes that car a Volkswagen4 and that car blue.*

What your looking for is referred to as the mental plane. Your thought is free there from the sub-routines developed for functionality. It's a place where the sky is filled with thoughts deeper than this world.

This is my ultimate goal for lucid dreaming. The subconscious is probably the most powerful part of our mind. It's what allows you to walk without thinking about how to move your legs, drive without thinking about every adjustment, and many of the other things we just do automatically. I have recently noticed that when im typing, if I think about what I'm typing I can't remember where the letters are on the keyboard, but if I let my subconscious take over I can type near perfectly. This is the power I want to be able to tap into, and lucid dreams are the way to do it. You are saying you want to use this 'computer' to review your thoughts, what about inputing new ones, such as how to solve certain math problems. If you can, instead of doing a math assignment to teach yourself through repetition, you could input the process directly to your subconscious. Another thing, maybe we could find a way to tap into this power while awake, eliminating the need to sleepp and take up time in order to solve problems, review memories, or upload new ones. I'm getting excited just thinking about it. Well, it's time to go to bed and build that super computer.

This may seem very strange but I have tried a couple of times to communicate with my subconscious by asking myself the question I want an answer too and centering my attention on my body. It seems that if I say something my body will actually give me an answer by the way it feels. It's usually a feeling in my stomach but it seems to happen right after I ask the question so I assume it's my subconscious reaction to it. The question has to be more of a statement though and then I wait for the body to reply. So I might ask something like, "I should quit the job" and my tummy might feel a rush in it.

It's kinda like when we get scared and our body shakes, or when we get excited our body feels good. Maybe it's our subconscious trying to prepare us for it?

Anyways, something to think about, even if far fetched.

I wanted to do this for years. There have been 2 instances when I tried to communicate with subconscious , but both times I got kicked out of the dream. Any time I set that as my goal again, I get horrible dry spells be careful in there!

Not to be rude, but I don't think you should tell people that trying to communicate with the subconscious will give you dry spells. It may kind of induce a placebo effect, like in one of BillyBobs dream control tutorials, he says that everyone who has a lucid dream end because of something, they come on to DV and post saying "______ ended my LD" and other people start expecting this so that when they have a lucid dream and try to do something similar, the same thing occurs for them. I don't understand how setting that as your goal by itself would give you dry spells. Have you given up on this goal??

The experiment that you speak of is indeed very interesting! But to my understanding so far, there some to be some questions in here that we are already able to clarify.

"I see it as either you subconscious has information that you don’t have access to (yet), or your mind is accelerating the 'learning' and problem solving process for your brain, enabling you to figure something that you would have figured out eventually almost instantaneously."
"After all, your subconscious is what makes your dreams, its what makes that person blond and that person short, it's what makes that car a Volkswagen4 and that car blue."

This is what is refered to as Tacit Knowledge that resides in your subconcious (Source: Stephen LaBerge's EWLD). Your subconcious stores a lot of information that you have gathered up through your entire life, but that you are not conciously aware of, hence the name subconcious, you do not have concious access to its material. Let's also take your example of your blonde people and blue cars, then we start going into schematics and expectations.

For an example, if i tell you to visualize a kiosk with a person standing there, your mind will instantly make a couple of assumptions based on your schematics. Lets take me as an example, I see a turkish man with moustache selling the wares in the kiosk (who said he even worked there?), the kiosk contains basic grocceries and candy, has a solid floor and roof, and resides inside. All this and much much more, comes from visualizing a kiosk and a person.

For when you bring up one schematic, your subconcious starts activating multiple schematics based on association, so again, i tell you the word "Sea", a lot of associations pops up in your mind, and that you can thank your subconcious schematics for, and that's why the cars in the dreams are blue.

What is described by mcguinnesdr is not neccesarily the subconcious helping you out, but rather your Autonomic nervous system helping you out. As we know, repetition is the mother of all learning (atleast as far as we know it to be right now), the essence of repetition is that, the more you do it, the more you strengthen the pathway for your neurons to travel through your nerves, with other words, when you simply "let your subconcious" take over, and you simply just know where the buttons are, that is a result of some very strong and accessible pathways for your neurons to instantly travel through.

It's like traveling through a forest, each trip (repetition) will clear out some more obstacles such as trees, so that the next time you walk the same path, it will be a little easier, and a little faster. Though, for what we know, this may very well also be known as our subconcious taking over, as we are not conciously thinking of where each button is. Though, I have not heard it being refered to as such, but it may very well be.

Also, this is very dependant on your beliefs. For example, dreamdimensions has a very different view, and as such you will have to decide which path to take depending on which explanation you see fit you. There is no right or wrong in this matter.

Me, I've created a "Library of the Everything" in my dream world that has all knowledge of everything. If I'm lucid and remember this fact, I can go in there and look up whatever it is I'm looking for.

Who are you talking to, about which aspects of the discussion? Your statement is broad and unhelpful in every way. Perhaps if you were to clarify we could have a proper discussion.

I just, once upon a lucid dream , reasoned that if my subconscious knows everything, it would make sense for it to store it in an easy-accessible place. So I visualised a vast library that had books and knowledge on, well, everything. And I knew I could go there whenever. Ironically, of course, I woke up before I could actually walk inside XD

Now when I get lucid, I try to remember, but oftentimes I'm too excited to remember this Library

I was going to post the same question and some thoughts when the search brought this thread to my attention. Wow - so cool, I can totally relate to Astrumparvulus. Are we reading the same book? I read "Lucid Dreaming - the Guide to the Inner Self." And the author is the one that gave me the idea to shout out in the dream world and receive an answer. The first time I tried it - it worked. It was awesome! My question was "Can the mind be hacked?" And the "answer" - "yes!" And then my response, "How?" And the response, "Do you know yourself yet?" The question to the question spurred me to think a lot about the question my subconscious asked. Ultimately, I think we put limits on ourselves with the self-concept we hold of ourselves. By questioning the very nature of our self-concept, we might be able to do things previously thought possible. For me "hacking the mind" was tapping more potential out of it. Too long of a story for a single post, but I've been running this experiment since October 2011 and have had 4 or 5 interactions with my subconscious in lucid dreams. It is very cool and I highly recommend trying it!
