Wink OMG, My first lucid dream!

Well finally after a year and 3 months I have had my first lucid dream. Jeez....that took long enough! I started at the beginning of 2013 to write down my dreams and do reality checks and kept it up for about 7-8 months until I lost faith. I was still very interested in the subject but just felt I wasn't getting anywhere. Then in early January had my first lucid experience. I walked into a room and saw my reflection in a mirror and had the Aha moment......I'm dreaming! Then did two different reality checks to make sure but unfortunately it ended there. But last night I got up at 3 in the morning to take my dog out and when I got back to bed I decided to try FILD. Unfortunately it kept me awake so I just told myself, " C'mon subconscious, surely by now, you know what I'm trying to do?" So I just let it go and fell asleep. Next thing I remember is being in my office at work and seeing two of my colleagues....and I thought " it's 3 in the morning, what are you guys doing here? That is when I knew I was dreaming so I did the thumb through the hand reality check (which didn't work) and then I tried the "pinched nose" reality check and that worked....I could breathe!
Anyway, I won't go into details....it was quite short but I dint manage to float down a staircase and move through a door without opening it. The experience was great, but I just want to know from the more experienced lucid dreamers.....does this mean that it will get progressively easier to become lucid now that I have had one proper lucid dream or not necessarily?

Well that's it.....just wanted to share my excitement with everybody.
      Cheers

Congratulations!! I remember my first true lucid and the excitement it brought! Unfortunately, it doesn't get any easier right away. In fact I had a three month gap between my first and second! Now is the time where its super easy to get frustrated and quit, but you have to work through it! After your third or fourth you really get an idea of your triggers and the dream feeling. So hang in there and congrats!

      Hey thx, RavenofShadow
Yes I will keep at it. I just read through my post and see that it is slightly confusing.....I actually did manage to float and move trough a closed door.....which was great.

CONGRATS on your first LD Reynhardt!!

I have to agree with RavenOfShadow. It doesn't seem to get much easier right away. It takes a lot patients and diligence in following the techniques. It can be frustrating because you can do the same exact techniques and not get the same results. But, hang in there and more LDs will come.

Congrats! Remember that everyone is different. Let's hope next one comes easier. Just doing it once shows you can do it, so that in itself is helpful.

And....another one! Well last night I had another lucid dream but unfortunately it lasted only a few seconds. It was incredibly real though....so much so that I was convinced it was real life and that I shouldn't even try the reality check because I am obviously not asleep yet. I think what helped me last night was that I went to bed a bit earlier but then woke up at about 3 in the morning with a huge headache and took two tablets ( which contained caffeine) and this kept me in that in between state.
Very cool, but just have to remember to do a stabilizing technique next time.

Congrats! Now that you've proven to yourself to do it, keep the heat on full, do lots of awarenessful-RCs during the day, and really reach for more and more dream recall. My 1st LD came after one month, my second 1 week after that, so the 2nd LD can definitely come soon! But don't give up. Think at any time that you could be dreaming! Know that managing your sleep situation and timing is just as important as the day-time awareness work. Looks like your dog walk was a nice WBTB. And slapping your SC around a bit helps from time to time! It's about time I give mine a good whack again.
