Thread: April the 12th is world Lucid Dreaming Day, what are you doing for it?

I am going to lucid dream. Maybe have a dream party! I haven't had one of those in a couple months.

It'd be awesome if we got all of Dreamviews behind this lovely idea. Imagine if it goes completely viral and then we'd all have one day a year when lucid dreaming is in the news, parties and all sorts!!

Let's keep a ear out on the 12th and see if we hear it on the news, I wouldn't be surprised, a lot of news shows tell about obscure holidays.

No probs Mismagius! is quite cool to know this kind of thing is happening. Are you going to enter the competition?

I'm looking forward to see if any familar DV faces do the waking up from a dream selfie thing.

I'll explain it for those who don't know. Apparently they're running a comp asking people to take a photo of themselves when they've just woke up with a short description of the dream you've just had. Sounds pretty fun.

The deal is you post it on twitter of facebook with the hashtag #luciddreamingday then the two best ones get picked to win a copies of the books Are You Dreaming? by Daniel Love or Lucid Dreaming by Robert Waggoner. I've already got both of these (actually I have two copies of each but then I work in a library and I'm a book nerd ) BUT I'm still going to enter as these are signed and I believe Love's book is also signed by Keith Hearne who is the guy who proved lucid dreaming back when afros were the fashion!

Anyway, it'd be cool if someone from DV won *cough* me *cough* just to show the DV gang representing!

I think impromptu dream games like this are a brilliant way to celebrate the 12 of Aprill "World Lucid Dreaming Day"

and beyond.

"World Lucid Dreaming Day", also known as "Lucid dreaming book authors get loads of free publicity for their books" day.

Be a nice idea if one of the LDing websites was behind it, but these guys just have books to sell.

Wow, way to be so cynical you make an entire bus of emo's look optimistic!
I'd say it's a lovely idea and it looks like the world of lucid dreaming website is behind them too.
Also websites don't run themselves for free they're in it for the advertising revenue a lot of the time. Being an idealist is nice but not when it makes you cynical of the motives of everyone. In the real world people can do things for the love of it and also as a career, they're not mutually exclusive.

Stop being a party pooper and just enjoy that people are coming together to celebrate lucid dreaming!
I've met a few of the authors involved in this at conferences and the ones I met came across as genuinely committed lucid dreamers who are in it for the love. Plus I really doubt they make a living from books alone.

Don't be the guy in the corner of the party pulling a smug and snarky face at everyone having fun. I know I sound a bit mean but c'mon if you're going to be cynical about a day, take your pick from Easter, Valentines Day, Christmas and all the rest. Not the first time us lucid dreamers have an excuse to party!

Awesome. I'm planning on making a banner "April 12. - Lucid Dreaming Day" and hanging it over my work desk at work tommorow. I was gonna write it on my uniform t-shirt, but not sure that would end up well for me.

Well, I'm gonna talk about it for sure tomorrow.

And sure, people have books to sell. But few years from now, books will be sold and the Lucid dreaming day will still be here for us to celebrate. It has to start somehow.

Ha, I haven't done much today for Lucid Dreaming Day. I've mostly been more motivated to do SAT/ADA and RCs (which is a good thing anyway). Maybe later on in the year when I get a new computer, I'll start putting up 'lucid dreaming comics' on deviantART.

I didn't have any lucids but I had fun yesterday, to celebrate I re-listened to some of the DreamViews podcasts and re-watched Inception
