      Finding what works for me

Hey guys thanks for the help. I've been trying to have a lucid dream for about a week now. I've been trying WBTB, and WILD once without any success (couldn't enter SP). I've been feeling kinda run down and I was wondering how WBTB affected my energy levells. Should it make a difference in how tired I feel? Do you guys think I should be trying WBTB or just DILD for the first dream. Thanks

It seems that very few people have their first LD via WILD. Overwhelmingly, the first one is a DILD. My first one was actually a WILD, quite inadvertently, and under unusual circumstances.

Patience, one week is not a long time. It often takes several.

WBTB doesn't lower my energy levels the next day, so long as I get the same amount of time actually asleep.

Work on increasing your day time awareness, and truly understanding reality checks. Work on DILD and learn about DEILD first. Plan on his taking a few weeks, and on the first dream being short. Simply reading lots of stuff about LDing and paying attention to dreams is going to help. Do not rush past the first steps, which in my opinion is building dream recall, and honestly making RC a daily habit.

Yea one week is nothing man keep at it for at least 3 months and see where you are at. Find routines that you believe in and have proven track record. Consistency is key.

I think people underestimate how hard to actually make RC's a habit. While I WBTB + wild when I can, I'm finding myself only doing a reality check 2 / 3 times a day because I forget due a busy lifestyle. When I remember I have forgotten, I realise that it'll not make it any easier to RC in a dream if I'm forgetting to do it irl.

My first ld was a deild but they've been all dilds after that first one. It can take a while for an RC habit to take effect or to learn to wild but just keep trying. Saying that, don't try too hard in your head if you get what i mean. Do lots of RCs wild attempts etc but don't take it too seriously because you won't stand a chance at WILD especially if you're frustrated at not being able to do it.

Thanks for all the input. Didn't mean to sound frustrated, I know it's a long process and am excited! I had added RC's to my daily life, and am getting better with them. Sounds like I'll just try for a DILD eventually

Wbtb is very helpful to achieve lucidity whether via WILD or DILD, so you can do it along with daytime practices (as already recommended by others above). Still, try to find a balance - you don't want to end up tired and exhausted from overdoing it.
