      Darn!

Last night I took 2 pills of melatonin, I had some pretty vivid first person dreams. One of them I noticed my teachers voice was different, I did a RC and it failed. Throughout the dream I probably performed about 5 RCs, they all failed. Then in the dream I though this one dream memory was a dream and started explaining to the class what LDing was. I'm so annoyed..

Hey, you'll get it after some time, dont worry! I was like you were in the beginning. The thing is, the more LDs you have, the more prone you are to noticing that you're dreaming, at least thats exactly how it works for me. I don't know how many times I explained LDing to other dream characters in dreams, but in no time i caught myself in the act and learned to RC whenever i even mentioned lucid dreaming. Try it out!

This is a really good sign, Rubydoo. You could try combining RCs: one tactile or body reliant TV (nose pinch) and something that relies on dream fluidity (look at text or digital watch). You can then reason from there that you are probably dreaming, until you find more convincing evidence (your cat has a twin, etc.).

I use the hands and checking clocks/ awareness reality check. In the dream I mostly looked at my hand, once in a blue moon I will randomly do a nose plug RC. I did last night but I made an excuse to why I could breath.

I consider lucid dreaming a skill. Like any other skill you keep practicing and eventually you will get the hang of it! Sounds like you are getting really close! I believe in you!

Lucid dreaming takes three things: Patience, practice, and perseverance.

I myself don't like Nose Reality Check due to always being able to make excuses why i breathed in dreams
If your hands or clock reality checks will seriously stop to work in most dreams then i'd suggest you one of those things:
      - Improve Them
      - Change Reality Check

Improving could be something like adding dream control to reality check for increasing probability of success
      Example:
      1. You decide to do hands reality check
      2. Yet before you look at them. Your tell yourself mindfully with full belief that your hand is missing two fingers due to recent accident (or something like that).
      3. You look at your hand and perhaps you will see results of Dream Control.
I remember that some people said that Hands RC works mostly due to expectation. We are being told on forums that our hands will look weird in dreams and due to that we keep it in mind when doing Hands RC in dream world. Which results mostly in subconsciousness weirding out our hands

Dream Control is made out of three elements i belive:
      - Emotions
      - Memory
      - Expectation

      - Goodluck

Don't listen to MisakaMikoto (just poking fun at ya). But seriously, nose plug is my #1, I never rationalize the result, it's like the perfect RC (for me): 1) you can do it "in the dark"; 2) it's fast, and 999 times out of 1000 completely unambiguous, a clear result each time, 3) you don't need to go looking for anything; 3) hand check is notoriously unreliable if you check people's experience.

I'd strongly recommend making nose pinch your primary RC in waking practice, then if you do it in dreams you should be lucid right away! Good luck, and it's a great sign that you were doing RCs in the dream, you're basically there!

edit: also, cultivate a mindset where even if you *think* you might be dreaming, you ARE dreaming!

Well since I'm still in school I'd have to do it discretely or when I'm just alone walking in the hallway during class. xD

      RubyDoo,

It sounds like you're making progress(even though it may not seem like it).

I'm not sure if you're into sports but I'll use this anology anyway.

LDing is like a jump shot. The more you do it, the better you get at it. After so many hours and tries you may even start to develop a fadeaway. Your swagger grows as you get more practice.

Eh, it all sounded better in my head, but good luck in your future endeavors.
