Whats going on? A Dream about a lucid dream? A False awakening?

      Hello,
So Today I had a really long dream, 30-40 minutes. I remember a lot of it, and it was quite vivid. At the end of the dream, I found money on the floor. (which I think is one of my dream sings). Found a coin, and then another coin, So I said to my self: "finding money again, must be a dream, I should do a RC" (but it wasn't really me who was thinking that. It didn't feel as if I was controlling this thought, it came form somewhere else, not me, it felt like a dream and not reality, I wasn't really conscious when thinking that). so I preformed the fingers through the hand RC twice and it didn't work, so I did the blow through the nose RC, It worked, but I wasn't surprised. Came back to my friends in the dream, told them I was lucid dreaming, they looked at me funny, as if I was crazy(LOL).
So I said :, "OK, I need to do the things I want to do", I tried to change my friend's appearance, didn't work, so I wanted go to my old apartment, which was at the street I was currently at in the dream, but then another thought came "this is a dream, I should teleport" (again, I am not the one thinking that). so I closed my eyes in the dream, everything turned black, then I woke up somewhere else, don't know where, it wasn't very vivd. I wrote the dream in my DJ app, then woke up again, for real this time, in my room, only to find out that the dream I wrote in the DJ wasn't there. OMG.

Whats going? Was that a lucid dream, even though I wasn't really controlling my actions? All the RC checks and actions I took in the dream after I realized I was dreaming, were automatic. And I am really surprised that I wasn't surprised when I realized I was dreaming, because I am trying for almost a month now to LD, and I thought that I would get more excited in the dream. Who was thinking for me, was it the subconsciousness mind?

So what happened, and why couldn't I control the dream.

In my opinion it's a good thing. It means you have lucid dreaming on the mind . Keep at it results aren't too far away.

Sounds to me like you were still going on automatic pilot, just like in any other dream. However you have LD on your mind and this is a good sign of progress.

To avoid this it is really important to do your RCs consciously, just stop whatever you are doing and genuinely ask yourself: Am I dreaming? Look around you and try to be as honest as possible with this... otherwise it just becomes another habit and it stops being helpful for LD.

I would also recommend you to do a mindfulness practice.

About the dream control, there are 2 possible explanations I can think of:

1- You were not lucid, you were just acting lucidity but were still unconscious... so you didn't really think your were dreaming and didn't have any control over the dream
2- Some people think that dream control is automatic while lucid. This is not necessarily true, it takes some practice and experimenting, some people find it easier than others

I also had a dream about having LD tonight. It happens. Probably we do RCs etc too mechanically. Try think more when you do them in RL. It's probably a good way though but I think that without greater efforts we would be still at this stage. Awareness is very important. Maybe not even more time is necessary but cleaner and focussed thoughts.

RCs by them self won't work as good because you need to ask questions as jzinser said, it really helps a lot!
It also sounded like the last part was a FA and you can easily bypass those and enter a lucid dream by doing a reality check and questioning yourself.

Just on a side note... I don't really like the hands RC because of this, it tends to fail. The nose RC seems to be much more effective for me, but having 2 different ones is a good practice!

I agree with what the others said...
I'm thinking that the theme of your first dream was about lucid dreaming because of you involvement with it in real life - so the dream made it as if you're lucid... It's not the same as being lucid - I would call it "semi-lucid", and in fact just tonight I had a dream like that (in which I knew I'm dreaming, and it even looked like I have some dream control, yet I was in autopilot in that dream - it followed the dream plot), and later that night I had two actual lucid dreams (as well as FAs). So I was reminded too about the difference between a "semi-lucid" and an actual lucid - which is awareness and the ability to be present in the scene (like you would in RL)...

Also, every dream that starts by waking up (i.e. has a logical beginning) is a false awakening - so your second dream was a FA...

This is a good start because you now know that the theme of lucid dreaming infiltrates your dreams that can by itself promote DILDs, etc. Now you only need to practice awareness (like the other replies said - by questioning reality and knowing that the next RC you do might be in an actual dream).

I had a false awakening a week or two ago and during this I was writing in my dream journal while still in the dream. Go figure haha.

It's interesting that you say that you were finding coins and money in your dream because that's actually something that I just realized happens often in my dream. I'm going to now consider that a dream sign for myself.

This is very common actually... I've heard it from lots of lucid dreamers and has happened to me several times.

Sometimes its really weird because in my dream I have like 6-8 dreams down and then I wake up to find nothing!

Just like jzinser said, I sometimes think that I recorded like a whole night of dreams, then wake up and nothing
Yesterday night I had a couple of FAs like this one!

Even weirder, at the end of my 7:45-8:05 dream that same night I was running with a friend up a slopped road, and started noticing coins on the pavement and picking them up! (During this night, but in the <<other, non-lucid, dream, with a different theme>>.)
