      Getting nowhere.

I am having no luck. It has been months since my last (and 2nd) lucid dream. That was placebo. No, matter what I try, nothing works.

Has anyone got anything to break a dry spell. I try to trick myself/believe that I am an expert lucid dreamer and get them easily but I just can't believe in it. There's doubt. And I think that is my downfall. Tips?

Well the tips mostly depend on what you're currently doing.

-What method do you use most? Beginners such as myself usually start with basic DILD.
-Are you doing regular reality checks?
      -Are you getting enough sleep?
-Are you sleeping well or is something interrupting you at all?
-Do you keep a dream journal?

Let me know that and I can give some very basic recommendations (As I said I'm new )

Did you staring at the back of your eyelids continuously all night long while doing a reality check every time you wake up? If so, how long did you try it and how did it work out? If not, maybe give it a try. It works well for me.

I am trying to use MILD along side just being more aware during the day and when falling asleep.
I do the odd reality check in the day, most off the time I attempt ADA which is practically a long reality check.
Now here is the odd thing; my parents are separate and I visit my dad tow days a week (stay over night). I sleep ridiculously better at my dad's ciompared to my mum's (despite having my only two LDs at my mum's.) Not sure why however.
Nothing really interrupts me during the night no, but like I said above, the quality of sleep varies on location xD
And yes I do keep a DJ. I rmemeber 2-6/7 dreams a night. Last night it was 5, the majority in rather vivid detail.

Did you staring at the back of your eyelids continuously all night long while doing a reality check every time you wake up? If so, how long did you try it and how did it work out? If not, maybe give it a try. It works well for me
I have completely forgot about this Dolphin xD I will start using it. So just stare at the darkness of your eyes whilst falling asleep and anytime you're awake in bed? And this leads to DILDS? IS this because you are falling asleep aware of your sight?
Is this your primary technique that you use or do you join it up with another technique.

      Sorry for the questions

Yes, stare at the back of your eyelids as much as possible until you notice an awakening of some sort. Then, do a reality check as soon as you notice the awakening.

This more often leads to DILDs, although it sometimes it leads to WILDs. It leads to lucidity not because you're aware of your sight, but because anytime you're staring, all of your attention is on something dream related, which makes it more likely you'll think about something dream related during the dream. Also, this causes false awakenings, which you catch because you develop the habit of doing reality checks when you wake up in waking life, which transfer over to your dreams of waking up causing you to become lucid.

This is my primary technique. I don't pair it up with anything else. Sometimes, I'll do something else continuous other than staring, but I think staring works the best because it requires the most attention in order to do it.

You can help me prove to others that this works! No pressure.

Personally, I don't think any lucid dream experience is a placebo. You're progressing, compare yourself back to when you first started. You are better now then you where then.

You may want to evaluate your current practices, try to make them a fun part of your life, things will seem easier if you do that.

Dolphin! No lucids but I had 2 FAs in which I failed to RC because they were so realistic. I actually woke up and wrote stuff down in my dream journal in both FAs. Weirdly, what I wrote in the first FA appeared in the second as well. But on the second one, my dad came in and attacked me with a blow torch xD

      I have some questions:
I found it took longer to fall asleep when doing the staring. Is this the same for you?
And is it ok if our mind wanders to random thoughts whilst maintaining a focus on our eyelids?

Gonna try this more. I think it will work great for me if I can get into the habit of RCing whenever I wake up.

It takes much longer to fall asleep when my mind wanders. When my mind doesn't wander, though, I fall asleep relatively quickly, especially after awakenings.

Try to keep your mind from wandering as much as you can. Anytime your mind wanders, you're not focusing on your eyelids anymore, and you'll be more prone to staying awake. However, if you randomly get an urge to RC or an idea to enter a dream, you should pay attention to that.

      Keep it up!

I know I'm bringing this thread back up but Dolphin. Your method worked!

It lead to a DILD and a WILD (but I couldn't open my eyes in the wild.)

Thanks a lot. I will try and refine this and make it scone my primary technique! )

This sounds like a really promising technique. I'll be pairing it with my MILD and just going to sleep normally.
