      Starting point

Hello! First off I hope I didn稚 post this in the wrong place, if I did feel free to move/delete it.

Anyway, I知 brand new to lucid dreaming and after having a crazy one a few nights ago I decided to learn. However, I get the feeling that I知 taking in too much information because I知 really excited. So far I致e started a dream journal and am learning to meditate, as well as using a lucid anchor.

Is there anything I知 missing, or am I doing too much?

also little slightly unrelated question: does meditation make you better at WILD? I see similarities and it might be a good other side effect.

Hi Asreal! I will attempt to answer and I hope others chime in as well.

As far as too much all at once, I know what you mean about that. When I initially dabbled in LD on and off, all I heard was keep a dream journal and try to put my finger through my hand. I had no idea there was more stuff. (I didn't attain a lot of LD's then)

If you look at the forum categories, that will probably give an overview or outline of all the major bases that any complete LD guide would cover.

The way I assimilated the information within the last 6 months was actually to watch/listen to a lot of You Tube channels. I could just go to a channel on youtube, put it on shuffle, and it would "feed my brain" all the information. I don't know if a proper coach would limit the amount of information a beginner could take in, only telling them what they "need to know" at the time.

How much you are doing or if you want to add anything else is up to you. If you want structure, I could help you design a routine. But it depends how much time you have to do activities and then how much time you have to read or study LD material. Either way I think you're off to a great start.

I have heard meditation helps with WILD. If you start learning meditation now it will give you a good foundation of learning the same skills it takes to do WILD.

It took me some time but now that I have a working knowledge of each aspect of LD, I'm able to mix and match, incorporating what seems to fit at the given time. So I formed the intellectual knowledge base and now I'm working through gaining experience of each thing. So I think this will happen for you as well.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out! I now feel reassured that I知 not *overdoing* it. For now I値l work on recall and meditation while I come up with some powers to use in my next lucid. Hopefully that will do that subconscious thing where I have a higher chance to LD.

      Thanks again!

You can never go wrong with knowing too much. I would encourage learning as much as you can, but you have to be careful of developing stress from information overload. In that sense you'll know when you are overdoing it. If you feel overwhelmed by it and stressed, then yes you are overdoing it. I would suggest taking breaks by focusing on other stuff too and not only lucid dreaming. Have to keep a healthy balance of everything. ^^

*Excitement is a good thing, many people can achieve first lucid dream after they found out about them being a thing and have read a whole lot of stuff on the Internet. Of course, the dose of knowledge is big and hard to remember all at once. So the first LD isn't really long or planned, but still, it was a lucid dream! I wait for this for a very long time, congratulations on your first lucid dream! Was it random or have you actually seen anything about lucid dreaming before?
