For me, Blue Lotus has two distinct effects: 1) it physically sedates, 2) it pulls me away from my ordinary logical frame of mind (which in essence means that its effect on me is psychedelic).
It works brilliantly for nightly experiences-not only lucid dreaming. In fact, what I refer to as astral projections are facilitated by Blue Lotus.
Mostly, I make a herbal tea out of 1 g, and let it steep for a long time (hours). I have recently obtained a dry extract of it, and this works also, but in my view not quite as well.
Crucially: in my experience there is nothing unpleasant about the effects. Dreams are not unpleasant, and neither are astral projections. Actually, Blue Lotus is for me associated with particularly pleasant experiences. It is one of my all-time favourite herbs.
Thanks guys for the input, I'm probably going to keep trying to attempt to use it in different scenarios. I read up on different forums that it gives a euphoric feeling while still maintaining higher consciousness, even though that wasn't what I felt, I definitely felt something from it the various times I woke up from the attempts. Another thing I read up even though I don't use recreational drugs was that it made things as powerful as DMT more navigable particularly in changa, for me it suggested that if I were to already be lucid that taking blue lotus would create a more profound experience.
Voldmer, I'd like to know how you go about when you take Blue lotus. How long before sleep do you drink the tea, how of the tea do you take to reach this effect, and if you use any other supplementation. I really want to like this herb but I may have just been going at it all wrong.
