Experiences with Blue Lotus and can it have negative effects on lucid dreaming?

I want to know if anyone has had, from experience, adverse effects when trying to use this plant for lucid dreaming. I have had a lot of experience with supplement induced lucid dreams for years now and have not heard of Blue lotus until recently. I have tried it on three separate attempts, one with grinding the flower into capsules, making a mild dose tea batch, and lastly just eating the flowers. They were all were paired with other supplements that I have much experience with to induce lucidity. Now I am almost certain that these supplements on their own or when stacked with one another do not create adverse effects on my dreams from the sheer amount of occasions I have used them.

Take also into account that the three nights were spread about four days apart from each other, they were also conducted with a WBTB after 5 hours of sleep.

The first nights batch goes as follows: Galantamine 8mg, Choline 600mg, Alpha GPC 300mg, DMAE 120mg, Gingko Biloba 120mg, Passion Flower 350mg, Peppermint 350mg, Melatonin 300mcg, and Blue Lotus 2g (Grinded Capsules)

~As a result I awoke into a lucid nightmare, which I never have nightmares that had some extremely dark settings, bizarre scenarios, and every person was a shadow or silhouette. On top of that I had countless false awakenings into what I thought was sleep paralysis but it was the feeling of sleep paralysis within a dream. I had substantially greater awareness than other lucid dreams but I was also powerless and had no control which with an unwanted setting is what I consider a lucid nightmare. Now I know Galantamine on its own or Mugwort can cause dreams like this when used repetitively on a day to day basis but I have tried this batch without the Blue lotus and had some great and profound experiences.

The second nights batch: Huperzine A 400mcg, Choline 600mg, Alpha GPC 150mg, DMAE 120mg, Gingko Biloba 120mg, Passion Flower 350mg, Peppermint 350mg, Melatonin 300mcg, and Blue Lotus 1L (in 5g prepared tea)

~This one caused a dream where I was uncomfortable in every scene, for example looking at any light source made me go momentarily blind, which I knew it just cut to darkness. I became lucid then lost it within a couple of different scenarios, then there were nuisance dream characters that were continuously bothersome even through different dream scenes. Overall the experience was not a nightmare but just a dream full of unwanted situations and scenarios.

The third batch: Huperzine A 400mcg, Choline 600mg, DMAE 120mg, Gingko Biloba 120mg, Passion Flower 350mg, Peppermint 350mg, Melatonin 300mcg, and Blue Lotus
      2.5 grams (Ingested Flowers)

~The dream was similar to the one of night 2 but it was just as a nuisance in its scenarios and I lost lucidity early on as well. It was a dream sequence that lasted over six hours which surprised me when I decided not to take Alpha GPC. This dream was so long, so vivid, and so annoying that I didn't even bother to write it down or try to recall it when I woke up. Just thinking back on how frustrated I was within the dream and not being able to migrate to a better dream scene got me irritated.

The reason my batch is so lengthy happened about year or so ago when I curiously stacked LucidEsc with a nootropic called NeuroIgnite and had an intense lucid dream with incomparable control, stabililty, and awareness. It was my personal best batch, though I needed at some point to lessen the intensity and pace as well as combat the rare but bad insomnia and that is where the Peppermint, Passion Flower, and Melatonin come into play.

But back to the topic, so far I have had no pleasant experiences with Blue Lotus. It could be that Blue Lotus may counteract with one of the other supplements even though I read up that it will synergistically pair up with a lot of things. I am considering for my next attempt to take a more mild dose and see what it does while awake and then try it again by itself for dreaming even if I more than likely will not be lucid. I know that someone will mention that this should of been the first method I should have attempted when trying something new, but I solely wanted to try this herb for lucid dreaming and wanted to guarantee lucidity in my attempt. Although in some time I may just discover that it could have been just a bad batch or supplier.

More importantly I want to learn more from any similar experiences or any experience with taking Blue Lotus.

My only knowledge of blue lotus is when it is used as a recreational intoxicant. I have not heard of any use in lucid dreaming. Way back in the day a filled a vodka bottle full of the flowers and poured vodka back in the bottle to soak and make a tincture. The product was pleasant enough, but kind of stupefying, maybe a slight narcotic feel to it. Certainly nothing amazing happened.

Here is the Blue Lotus Sutra

      ↘️↘️↘️

      https://youtu.be/r364h19dXio

      ↗️↗️↗️

      It is frightening

(6:55) a new monk joins in and he is a deep, deep baratone.

      He is so scary

The 9+ minutes is the total Lotus Sutra
Chanted in a very disciplined MONO tone

Dr Robert Leon Van De Castle could do it.
We were skyping in 2008 and a mentioned that I found a deep, monatoned lotus sutra
      And rvdc launched into it
      That shocked my sox off

      Rvdc was a master dreamer
Maybe listening to this scary sutra facilitats deep clear dreaming

I have rather extensive experience with Blue Lotus (to be specific: Nymphaea caerulea) - all of it very positive.

For me, Blue Lotus has two distinct effects: 1) it physically sedates, 2) it pulls me away from my ordinary logical frame of mind (which in essence means that its effect on me is psychedelic).

It works brilliantly for nightly experiences-not only lucid dreaming. In fact, what I refer to as astral projections are facilitated by Blue Lotus.

Mostly, I make a herbal tea out of 1 g, and let it steep for a long time (hours). I have recently obtained a dry extract of it, and this works also, but in my view not quite as well.

Crucially: in my experience there is nothing unpleasant about the effects. Dreams are not unpleasant, and neither are astral projections. Actually, Blue Lotus is for me associated with particularly pleasant experiences. It is one of my all-time favourite herbs.

So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?

I used to grow it. It is a very pretty dainty little water lily. It is not actually a lotus. It is likely the lotus that is mentioned in the Odessy.

Thanks guys for the input, I'm probably going to keep trying to attempt to use it in different scenarios. I read up on different forums that it gives a euphoric feeling while still maintaining higher consciousness, even though that wasn't what I felt, I definitely felt something from it the various times I woke up from the attempts. Another thing I read up even though I don't use recreational drugs was that it made things as powerful as DMT more navigable particularly in changa, for me it suggested that if I were to already be lucid that taking blue lotus would create a more profound experience.

Voldmer, I'd like to know how you go about when you take Blue lotus. How long before sleep do you drink the tea, how of the tea do you take to reach this effect, and if you use any other supplementation. I really want to like this herb but I may have just been going at it all wrong.

Any clear directions on using this should be in a P.M. as how to use/make drugs are topics we do not want on the public forum. It is general enough to say a tea or a tincture, but more details should be kept to P.M.
