Back in the day, before I really knew about LD, I was just trying to improve my dream recall in general and I stumbled across a chant that's supposed to help. |

Repetitive chanting can be effective to induce lucid dreaming or certain dream themes, but not for recall. After seeing the influence repetitive flash games have had on my dreams, I truly believe chanting would be a good method to reach lucidity. But you'd have to chant some real words that declare your intent, not gibberish. |

IDK cusp i tried it and it worked |
|
Really? "Roam Goam" worked? |
|
If I start remembering nothing and do this, I get fragments. if i start with fragments, I get the basic plot of the dream. Haven't tried anything else, but it really could be a placebo making me TRY harder. |
|
Yeah, it's always worked for me. I don't pretend to know why, but I think, for me, it just stops my mind from getting sucked into other thoughts (like what I'm going to wear, what I have to do at work that day, etc). That would be my guess -- just keeping all of those thoughts from intruding gives the images from the dreams a chance to surface. |
|
This actually sounds reasonable, and I might try it (if I remember) tonight, since I have god awful recall. (or at least I think so) To those who don't think this could work, (I'm looking at you, The Cusp) I've read that chanting focuses and relaxes your mind. It keeps you from thinking random thoughts that would chase away the dream memories, but Is to mindless to do so itself. (Or at least thats what I would assume.) |

Sounds interesting. |

holy shit! roam goam worked! i woke up this morning with not one dream in my head, i was like wtf cause i usually have good recall, and then i remembered seeing this thread so i thought id give it a try, i said roam goam over and over in my head and within a couple of seconds 3 dreams reappeared in my head! i was astounded. going to be using this technique a lot more often. Thanks Harper! |

Yep, it's like "roam", the regular word, and the "goam" rhymes with that. |
