      Bored of Lucidity?

      So I was in the process of a non-lucid dream last night, and one of my friends was in it and he said to me "You know you can go lucid right?" and I said, "Oh yeah! I can!" Then I started swimming through the air a little bit, and I couldn't think of anything else interesting else to do and actually got a little board and said to myself, "Eh. I don't really need to be lucid right now" And went back to non-lucidness.

      So yeah, I was basically kicking myself in morning when I realized all the cool things I could have done and didn't. Anyone ever have this happen to them? Purposely bring yourself out of lucidity?

      Not really because as soon as I become lucid I just try to focus on my goals and even more things. I mean C'MON how can you get bored when you can do WHATEVER YOU WANT!
      Whenever your thinking, just remember thoughts become things.
      Current goals:
      -Drive a Ferrari 458 { }
      -Go to a different plant { }
      -Street race with different cars { }
      -Kiss Megan Fox { }

      That happens because your lucidity did not arouse the waking self in the dream it only created the awareness that you are dreaming. Doing cool stuff from waking time..etc only applies to the waking self not the dreaming self because the dreaming self is limited to the dream environment, it cannot think out of the dream context/environment. So the idea of being lucid naturally may mean flying to the dreaming self and nothing else.

      With being lucid, you can do anything and everything. Often times there are so many things you can do, that you really can't decide what to do, lol. When this happens I remain lucid, but I just play around/along with the dream plot. This has led to some very fun/rewarding times.

      I never get bored. I'm always exploring my dream environment, looking for surprises. I rarely plan out something to do ahead of time. I prefer to just go with the flow. Maybe have one or two general ideas of things I want to do.

      I used to think that but after seeing posts here and experiencing many lucid dreams for myself it's not really true it depends on the dreamer's lucid weakness. It can range from not being able to fly to being paralysed in the dream to waking up everytime he is lucid. It has nothing to do with practise but has everything to do with the way the person percieves reality. So to do things in the dream like you said anything and everything it would require the person to change his very way of living and thinking to accept the impossible as reality. And also it depends on what it is you are doing or want to do in the dream. Is the idea from waking life or just from within the lucid dream itself a sudden idea that came out of nowhere while in the lucid dream. Doing things from waking life ideas can be challenging because it would require waking memory in the dream and lucidity does not always include waking memory unless it's a very high level. Even more challenging is to do things that the person never seen or done before that makes doing it flimsy and hollow and makes it dificult/impossible to do in the lucid dream. So "Everything and Anything"? I don't think so.

      What often goes wrong for me is that I don't have clear goals of what I want to do. Often, setting a clear goal, before you go to sleep, is a good idea. This will also help you become lucid, atleast in my experience.

      Yes, this happened to me once and since then I haven't had a decent lucid dream. I thought of a few things I wanted to do, but I wanted to save some activities for the next time I became lucid so I gave up my lucidity and went non-lucid. I really kicked myself because there are tons of cool things I want to do! :pout:

      Naw, you're not along in regards to getting bored and giving up.

      Yeah definitely, when I wake up I think up new things I could have done, it makes me feel upset. When I run through the list of things I could have tried its literally never ending, between spawning any object/food and teleporting anywhere in any experience, its just a never ending amount of experience potential packed away that was never used.

      That's why its important to have goals, I usualy do attempt my goals when lucid if I think about them a lot, tomorrow morning I'm going to try to play a song in my head, spawn objects with tactile sensations, and teleport to my high school.

      I think there are other ways to control a dream besides your mental beliefs and such, like for example your more 1 dimensional senses, like touch, and hearing are very easy to reproduce with your imagination alone within a dream. For example many people imagine rolling to do a deild or to get out of sleep paralysis. Hearing is very easy to produce as well, try having a song in your head the next time your dreaming and it will start playing as if there were a radio in your head. Now these senses influence how sight perceived the dream world the most multi-dimensional sense out there with all the different types of info perceived at the same time it can be hard to edit with imagination alone. But if you were to imagine the feeling of an object in your hands just like someone where to imagine rolling to get out of sp (works every time for me) the object should literally spawn in your hands if you focus enough and then pull it up before your eyes. I need to test this more, but in theory it should work.

      Sorry my friend, but you are completely wrong. Like anything in this world, LDing takes practice. You have to practice flying before it becomes possible. You have to practice some of the more difficult tasks before they become possible. Too many people on this site complain about not being able to accomplish/do something, when they themselves haven't put the time or effort in. If you can't do something practice and put in some work. Anything and everything, YEAH I THINK SO!

      I would never get bored, and I would never give up. At least I hope not, each lucid for me always feels brand new and it's great.
      Lucid dreams, gotta love em.

      I once sort of quit a lucid during a task of the month. I suppose you could say I was bored but that happened because I couldn't break free of the heaviness of my sleep.It was taking the whole fun out of it.

      I never give up lucidity when I come across it, but I often find myself prefering to go on sleeping than trying to become lucid. It probably stems from the fact that my lucids are kind of lame compared to my non-lucids - the stuff that most people have for lucid goals is the stuff I've always done in normal dreams.
      I don't think this will change until I manage to WILD, thus having a better chance of working on the things that insterest me.

      Do you have a plan of tasks to do in LD which you learn through a day? The problem is that if you have not a plan, you can easily run out of things to do (for some reason it is harder to remember in LD about all this cool things we can do in it).

      ^ What the last guy said. ^

      Try making a list of all the things you want to do, and before bed, pick one or a couple and commit them to memory (possibly through the MILD technique?), or at least make them easier to recall in a dream. Like, if you want to fly, think about flying, and also pick a few other "backup" ideas, in case flying becomes boring or if you forget.

      Whatever you do, PRACTICE! It takes practice to master LDing. Just stick with it, and you'll be doing everything you've always wanted to do, and then some. Good luck!

      try really examining things instead of trying to do something specific. Find the true energy.

      I had an incredibly awesome normal dream, In which I decided to remain as an observor, fearing lucidity would change the plot. This has been the case when it was a rediculously awesome story with alot of suspence, better than any movie ive seen.
      This has probably happened more than once actually.

      However, I do have trouble getting into lucid dreaming when im depressed.
      (right now for instance)
      Has any one else had this happen to them?

      Enthusiasm makes everything new and fresh. I say forget the boredom and the futility, just take the opportunity.
      Plenty of things you have not done.
      You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

      If I can't think something to do, normally I'll explore or ask a DC to give me an idea of what to do.

      But I confess, I have been in lucid dreams where I've been bored and actually wanted to wake up. Terrible, I know.
