Reality checks failing isn't an uncommon occurrence. Some RC's, however, are more prone to failing than others. The finger-through-the-palm RC can work okay, but it is kinda more likely to fail than some of the others, such as the nose-pinch RC. Different methods work for different people. Looking at your hands is also rather user-specific. For some, it works great. For others, not so much. |

A couple of times in my dreams so far I have actually performed the nose pinch reality check, thought to myself, "Cool I can breathe with my nose pinched!" and then I continue on with the dream. My reality checks fail me often, and only once has it actually made me lucid, although for a very short time because I got too excited. It seems like I need to work on actually thinking to myself when I perform a reality check, "Am I dreaming?" |

I think what you should do is sit there for a minuite and focus on your surroundings and pay attention to the real world and try doing reality checks and really concentrate on if it is real life the reality check will fail. |

Same here. I don't do RCs as much as just being suspicious, skeptical, and aware. I try and focus on my surroundings and see if anything looks out of whack, instead of doing RCs every hour or so. My dreams, too, are mostly due to sudden realizations; I then do a RC to back it up. |

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
