I need help opening my "third eye"! If you know what im talking about please help!

So I have been messing around with lucid dreaming for about a 3 weeks now. I have found that the best technique for me becoming lucid is the WILD method. I have had 4 very good WILD's within these last three weeks! After my last one I seem to have a feeling as if neurons are sparking off in my brain or as if my brain is growing/expanding. Sometimes I can feel my heartbeat in the center of my forehead, and this happens all day long now not just when I close my eyes to try to enter a WILD. After doing alot of reading and research online I have found that my symptoms are those common of your "Third Eye" or (Ajna Chakra) which is pretty much your Pineal gland becoming active or getting ready to open. It seems like I am very close to opening but cannot seem to do so, I just have this feeling in my brain all day. I could use tips on how to fully open it, or advised from someone going through the same thing. Thanks!

      youngjedi,
I felt the same pressure in my forehead when I was younger. The third eye is for inner vision, so I pursued meditation as a way to focus inwardly. I also read from spiritual teachings that there may be a sound or other sensation as the third eye opens.

So, I'm sitting in meditation after reading this and the pressure starts building. All of a sudden there's a sound like a tree branch cracking inside my forehead. It totally freaked me out, but there was no pain and shortly afterwards I began seeing auras and my dreaming was greatly enhanced. I wish you the best.

You could always try sitting with a straight spine, inhale fully and say "Aum" loud but slow until your lungs are empty. Then fill your lungs again fully and repeat 100 times. Close your eyes and try to look at the exact spot in your forehead where you can feel your heartbeat. Not sure if it will help at all so you will have to let us know.

Most the techniques revolve around visualizations and focused breathing. I will say this one thing however, once your pineal gland is fully activated-you probably wont return.

Being aware of the present moment constantly is how you open your third eye

it's not something that happens overnight.

That's rediculous. I've been working on opening my third eye with the book "Awakening the Third Eye" (a free online book) and so far I havn't once thought of suicide. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Some people their third eyes are closed, others are open a little bit, others more. People who think alot it blinds them. They see with their minds. They think about what they are looking at or think about something that isn't even happening here and now which makes them unfocused on what they are looking at.
When you learn to quiet the mind and bring your awareness to your heart your third eye will open. You will see everything in an entirely new way.

I would advise you not to attempt to "force" it open. Continue with whatever practices you are doing, and let your body take care of itself. It will naturally open and activate as the fluidic pressure in your cranium becomes normalized, and your body and brain adjusts to a different overall chemistry. If you force an opening before there is enough free flow of cerebro-spinal fluid and lymph and blood and so forth, it can cause problems that are difficult to diagnose and remedy from the perspective of traditional western medicine. They may be more or less minor issues, but then again they may be uncomfortable enough to prevent the pineal from being fully activated in a healthy way.

However you may be called to pursue the path of the "wounded healer", which is typical of shamanism. In that case there are many psychedelic substances that can help you break through all blockages and even activate the entire endocrine system simultaneously (by awakening the crown). It is not assured that you will to be able to do it, only certain people who are predisposed for this will be completely successful. Also, be aware that such an experience will seal your fate - and you will be committed to the path of fully awakening whether you want to or not. It can be a difficult path, but some are born to walk it. They are "chosen" to do so, and in that respect they have no choice but to follow it.

The shaman's path of awakening is generated by creating a mystery school within the body, using psychedelic substances or other methods of altering consciousness. They achieve a profound awakening in an altered state, and then once they return to the "ordinary" world, they are left with the task of building a bridge back to it. The awakening never goes away, it just becomes unconscious and this is what creates the mystery school for the shaman. It is entirely personalized for them specifically - the teaching is directly relative to them because it IS them teaching themselves. In other words, they physically manifest their higher self in order to teach their lower self. That is why shamans are also known as people of power, magic, and so forth. Physical manifestation of the higher self is the basis for what are known as "miracles". Such events are derived from a different set of laws, a higher order. They do not "break the laws" of nature, but rather are an example of a higher order of nature which most people are not aware of.

I wouldn't go all voodoo until you've tried the technique in this book: Awakening the Third Eye which can be found here: Free: Download Awakening the Third Eye – Clairvision School
It's free and I've been following it for a couple weeks and have noticed that it seems to work.

You can't force it open. Unless of coarse you take a psychedelic substance, which I highly recommend. The third eye isn't a freakin gland in the brains goddammmit!!!!!
Its a chakra. This chakra gets all clogged up with thought energy. it stops the flow of energy out of your brow.

Surely it would be better to open the third eye without the use of brain-damaging drugs, would it not?

We may agree on some things, saltyseedog, but I have never liked the idea of using psychedelics. Granted, I can't stop people from doing what they wish. I just never saw the appeal. That kind of stuff can seriously mess you up if you're not careful. Besides, I know that I personally, would seriously question any "insights" I had while I was high... (Again, I can't speak for everyone) Doing things naturally may take longer, but it is certainly safer, and to those with any sort of patience it is what I would heartily recommend.

Precisely. I myself have always been fond of a properly functioning brain, without piece of it blown to bits.

psychedelics don't mess you up. They make you realize how messed up you already are!!!!! and they don't cause brain damage. Alcohol causes brain damage.
People do drugs to escape their problems, their own minds that they cannot deal with, their emotions. With psychedelics there is no way you can hide from them they are all right there and you are more aware of them than ever.

Heh, if you say so. Guess we'll agree to disagree. I don't want to argue about it, only offer a second opinion.

It is quite possible to force changes in the energy system by forcing changes in the organism, through psychedelics as well as other yogic practices. And saying the third eye is not a gland is the same as saying your foot is not your leg. Its somewhat true, but also somewhat not true.

The pineal gland is a gland that is photosensitive - meaning, it responds to and is stimulated by light.. just like our eyes themselves. Believe it or not, its functions are still mostly unknown by modern science although it is generally accepted that the pineal is where melatonin is synthesized from serotonin. It is linked with many things but especially with "seeing" things at a more subtle level, seeing connections between things that are normally "invisible" to our other eyes. The pineal gland is what allows the nervous system to potentially perceive light particles or electrons at the sub-atomic level - so it can see through matter, like your head and basically everything else. Eventually it is possible to use the pineal along with the rest of the nervous system to "see" energy fields sometimes called "auras" - or electromagnetic fields, dark matter, dark energy, that sort of thing. It isnt just random lights and so forth, the "seeing" will actually give you information as well, although it is almost impossible to describe it in words, with ordinary language. You just "know" things without knowing how you know them.

The pineal gland functioning in this highly adaptive and advanced way is called the "third eye". It is not the gland itself, although it is required for such a phenomena to occur.

The anja chakra is not simply "clogged with thought energy", it is also the source of the third psychic knot, the rudra granthi, or shiva granthi. Its full awakening is related to balancing the convergence of the three channels of subtle energy, the ida, pingala and the sushumna - where the anja chakra resides.

The energy system of the body is built on the foundation of the organic processes. Their full expression requires a harmonious relationship. The endocrine system in particular is specifically related to the functioning of the chakras, as are the various nerve plexi along the spine.
