The basic idea of most mental yoga is to learn to control such things. I am not saying you can make candles smell just like bubblegum, but a trained yogi could very likely supress any discomforting impulses enough to not react to the discomfort. Well, geese, if my suggestion is to explore the workings of your mind and nervous system and learn to adapt and modulate as much of the system as is possable,,, that is only helpful if you are willing to put in the work. Is it alot of work, yes. If mastering your own nervous system sounds like the key, perhaps starting with the stuff I share in the DVA would be enjoyable. However, on a more immediate level, Originalposter's comments seem on the money.
