From a DILD I had this morning. I really need help with the light thing

I watch as he floats for a moment, then does the breast stroke and swims off. I suddenly become lucid, because HEY, I don't have an ocean in the back yard! So I start skipping along the shore, and take to flight. It was already night when the dream started, with the only light coming from our backyard floodlights. But now that I'm lucid, it goes completely dark. I REALLY need to learn how to summon light. I tried all kind of things. I even closed my eyes and spun, trying to change the scene. Usually that would wake me up, but it didn't this time, which is good. But it was still dark. I just kinda stood there, in a black oblivion for a few moments, and woke up due to frustration.
