      mahoogie's workbook!

      Reality Checks:
      - Looking at hands and counting fingers
      - Plugging nose and trying to breathe
      - Fingers through palm

      Dream Signs:
      - Classrooms (It seems that 3/4 of my dreams take place in school classrooms)
      - My Mom

      Short-Term Goals:
      - Fly
      - Telekinesis
      - Meet someone I know in the waking life in a dream
      - Recall more dreams per night

      Long-Term Goals:
      - Be able to have lucids on a regular basis
      - Discover my dream guide
      - Complete a Task of the Year

Something I want to focus on:
-SSILD because I believe it helped me get my first LD.

      Lucid/Dream Recall History:
Been DJing for exactly 1 month now and have 34 dreams/fragments written down. I would say I can recall maybe an average of 5 dreams/fragments per week because some days I can't recall anything...

      Current Technique:
DILD. I do WBTB on the weekends.

I'll make sure to keep you guys updated with my progress!

      Hey mahoogie, workbook looks great!

You know, you and I share the classroom dream sign. To this day I have dreams about elementary, high school and college classes. I also think your DILD choice is a great technique. As recall improves, so do the chances of a DILD. Increased awareness throughout the day also tends to help the chances of DILDs, so I highly recommend practicing some general awareness techniques.

Well, I normally wouldn't update everyday, but I had an amazing night last night. I was able to recall 5 dreams, about 4-5 sentences of detail each. Also, I automatically woke up after a REM cycle without the need of an alarm. I guess my body is use to getting up for WBTB from the weekends. It took me an hour to go back to sleep because I have a really hard time going back to sleep if I wake up. I didn't remember any dreams from the sort of WBTB I had, but I'm still psyched that I was able to recall 5 dreams.

Nice.. that's some seriously good recall. How many hours sleep did you get altogether, just curious.

And I assume you're keeping a written journal somewhere. Any thoughts on keeping one here on the site? It's got alot of cool features, and staff members usually poke around and read/comment on the entries, providing notes and advice. And humor . Could prove helpful, just a thought.

Hey mahoogie, welcome to the Intro Class!

I see you dream a lot about your classrooms. Just an idea: do some reality checks everytime you go into a different room when you're in school IRL. That could help amp up your awareness in case you dream about them

      Good luck, see you around!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Well, I almost had a moment of lucidity a couple of nights ago... When I went to bed I repeated a mantra I found in the DILD techniques thread. "Next time I'm dreaming, I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming."

I remember having a dream and randomly I looked at my hands and could see 8 fingers. I then proceeded to do the fingers through the palm of my other hand RC, but I never actually realized I was dreaming. I woke up right after that...

I think I really need to put a lot of emotion into my RC's and really question if I'm dreaming or not thoroughly.

I took your advice and have been practicing the ADA technique for a couple of days now. I have a question though. In the tutorial, it seems like its more focused on what exactly I'm feeling and how the world is influencing me directly. For example, the air breezing by me, feeling my lungs every breath I take, feeling the power my legs are doing while I'm walking, etc. What I don't get is if I should be aware of not just me, but the people around me. Notice every little detail that they do like tapping their pencil in class, moving, etc. So, should I do both of these, or just focus on one?

Sorry if the question is hard to answer, couldn't really explain it that well.

No, that's actually a really insightful question. With awareness, I recommend that you begin with yourself first and foremost -- your story, your place in the world, how you fit in to the events that are unfolding around you. Does it all make sense? Do you make sense?

Then consider the sensations that you feel around you. The way that your feet feel on the ground, the way that the clothes hang on your body, your breathing.

Once you have all of that rotating through your mind, it's great to look further out and take an interest in your broader environment, especially if that makes the process more enjoyable. But the crucial bit is to get that sense of yourself and an understanding of the world you inhabit.

Whatever causes you to live completely and totally in this moment is the right answer for you. IMO. Good luck with your practice! (And congratulations on the very close call with the hand check!)

Haven't had much luck yet as in achieving lucidity, but my awareness is starting to slip into my dreams I think. In one of my dreams I saw a Subaru Forester, but it had a Ford logo on it. I remember saying to my brother, "Hey! That car has the wrong emblem on it!" But I guess I really didn't question it good enough or else I would have gotten lucid.

I'm going to try the SSILD technique tonight, and would like any of your opinions on it if you have any experience with it.

Also, should I do this as well as my ADA practice, or just focus on one thing at a time?

OHHH I know about SSILD, what do you want to know? And while SSILD is helpful to spark awareness before going back to sleep. The overall practice of ADA throughout the day could be coupled really with any method to increase the likelihood of a lucid dream just via DILD. BUT anyways yea what do you wanna know about SSILD..

Just a short little update: I got a FA from doing the SSILD technique last night, still didn't get lucid though. At least that's some progress

YES! I had my first lucid last night! I can't tell if it was before my WBTB or after it but I know I had one!

I was at my Aunt's house and something just didn't feel right. It was probably because I was suppose to go over there yesterday, but I didn't. I looked at my hands and I only had 4 fingers! (including my thumb) I got super excited and figured I would try to fly straight away! But, first I decided that since it was so cold, I would need some better clothes. I looked down and I had shorts on. Then, I looked up and pictured me wearing jeans. I looked down and I had jeans on! I went outside and attempted to fly, but I just belly-flopped right on to the pavement. I tried again and still didn't succeed. I lost lucidity after that.

      CONGRATS!!

And good job on summoning pants! Don't worry about the flying, it'll come easier with practice. Next time you can try running first, then jumping up, or maybe using other stuff like jetpacks or wings

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Well I had a pretty weird dream last night. In the dream I just KNEW that I was dreaming. I RCed but every single time I RCed it failed. I know this wasn't real life... Can anyone tell me what this was?

Sometimes reality checks fail, well in my case they always fail So pretty much I usually just focus on signs that make me think it's a dream. In my experience it's much harder to mistake real life for a dream than it is to mistake a dream for real life.. So don't worry about that.

Congrats on your first lucid dream!

Concerning RCs, I agree with Kraom. These days, I just use RCs for fun after I already know I'm lucid. To know you're lucid is more about a feeling, and a certain level of awareness. Which you already had! You said you knew you were dreaming, and that it wasn't real life. So all you have to do is focus on, and remember that feeling. It's more important than a superfluous RC. Plus, once you know you're already lucid, no need to waste time on those RCs when you could be taking paigey's advice and try flying again

Also, that really was great job on the jeans! One lucid dream and you're already summoning dream clothes, that's really noteworthy. Keep doing what you're doing, don't get bogged down with RCs, and keep us posted. Good luck!

Haven't posted in a while so I guess I will. Regarding recall, mine has pretty much plummeted. I used to remember 2-3 every night, but now I'm lucky I'd I can even remember 1.

On the bright side, I got my first MILD last night! As I was falling asleep, I repeated, "I'm dreaming" in my head. Later on in the night I just realize I'm dreaming somehow and RC to confirm. 6 fingers, woo! I didn't even need to stabilize either which was pretty cool. Also, I could use telekinesis like in the movie Chronicle. I was moving cars around and it was awesome.

Spring Break is coming which will give me a bunch of tries to get lucid. Lets see if I can get another this upcoming week!
