Hi Ethan! Having a lucid dream is very individual. Some people get it the first night, and some people get it after much longer than that. I do believe however, that you can achieve lucidity within a week if you try really hard. Start with checking your surroundings like once an hour, preferably more often than that. Do a realitycheck and get a feel for how it feels to be awake. Think alot about lucid dreaming and set up a goal you want to accomplish. Imagine yourself accomplishing that goal, and feel the surge of happiness which follows.
When you're in bed, I would suggest you try some mantras. "I am dreaming" is a short and nice mantra which I use. This is something you should do 10 minutes before sleep, and try to make your last thoughts about lucid dreaming.
A WBTB is a great tool for becoming lucid. It increases your chances ALOT. Try that out when you can. Also REM-Rebound is something I would recommend. It gives you alot more dreams.

Keep on dreaming!
