      Issues becomming lucid

I've been at this for about 3 weeks now. I'm keeping my dream journal, practicing my reality checks all the time & can't become lucid. I'll wake from a dream & think to myself, why didn't I do the reality checks in that dream? I just go with the dream wherever it takes me. Frustrating to say the least. I know it takes practice & time & also some may never attain lucidity, but I have been lucid in the past. Is it true that the older you become the harder it is to become lucid? I'll keep at it, I guess I just need some re assurance.

Everyone can do it! Just keep on trying man and you'll get it one day. Tried any other techniques?

Maybe you should try to become lucid, not licid

It took me nearly two months to have my first lucid dream, never give up. Persistence and dedication are key if you want to have a lucid dream. Just keep performing your reality checks and keep writing in your journal. If you need help with anything feel free to ask or send me a private message. Good luck!

When I first discovered lucid dreaming it took me a little over a month to get it right, and I only kept a dream journal for 4 entries and did reality checks all the time. I think I was trying too hard like you may be now, cause when I decided to take a break from dedicate LD practice, a few nights later I had my very first LD. Take a break, just keep LD in the back of your mind for a week and see what happens. Don't force the LD, let it happen ^^

Winamp, dude give me a break, just a key stroke. LUCID LUCID LUCID. There I should get it right from now on. Anyway, ya I think I may be trying to force it. I am dreaming every night at least once, & I just can't remember to do the reality checks in the dream. I'll try backing off for awhile & see what happens. And No I'll never give it up. I think this is the coolest thing ever. Thanks for the support, even you Winamp

      Crystals

Hey why dont you get some crystals like Kyanite, Shamanic Dream crystals, Calcite, celestite, red jasper they are some great crystals for dreaming you should definatly start seeing the effects take place ,just put them or one under your pillow before you sleep and you will get more vivid dreams, more chance of becoming lucid and better recall. i dont really do reality checks i just constantly remember dreams i naturally become lucid 1-2 times aweek but now i think i need to start again so i can lucid dream all the time

Could you also become lucid by reading this forum all the day not non stop but like every 30 minues or something and in the evening just go sleep and think about a nice place.
      Would this work?

I feel your pain MAXX. I am frustrated too, but we just must keep at it. I wake up all the time after a crazy arsed dream thinking - wtf?!? That dream was so nuts, I should have clued into the fact that it was a dream! I should have done RCs, why didn't I? And I get really annoyed with myself. Just have to keep doing RCs over and over and over and over, and beat it into our subconscious. It takes time to get the message over there I think.
In the mean time, have you tried to WILD instead? I find I have more luck with that, I get further. But don't listen to me... I'm new

Crystals under my pillow??? Are you for real? How is putting something under my pillow going to effect my dreams? Now I could understand if I ate a few crystals of something before I went to sleep, that could help out in this department. I had very wicked real dreams last night, recorded everything I could remember in my journal as soon as I woke. Not to get into it right now, but I woke completely out of breath & sweating, like I was running from something or in a fight. My wife tells me I'm very active when I'm asleep, always rolling around, sitting up, talking out loud to no one. I think once I figure out how to become lucid, (Thank You Matt for fixing that), it will consume all of me. I'm taking a break for a day or two to try & get re-focused, trying not to try too hard. You will know when I achieve lucidity. Again, Crystals? Under my pillow? For real? I'm not making fun, just never heard of this before. Where would I obtain such a thing? It is interesting to say the least. I will "PM" you Wrighty" for more info. Thanks again for the support, it really helps.

If you feel frustrated it isn't going to happen. Your conscious mind is wanting it, but obviously your subconscious mind isn't following. The subconscious is the biggest part of your mind, and it is feeling pressured. The subconscious mind likes to follow the conscious mind if it knows that it is for its best interest. For example: when you are driving your subconscious takes care of the feet on the gas pedal, the clutch, the brakes, the steering wheel, while your conscious mind looks at the road. They work together. The subconscious also follows the conscious mind when it is having fun. It is like a child. You cannot make a chore out of lucid dreaming. Children do not like chores. Treat it like a happy child that is part of you, treat it the way you want to be treated. It will follow and help become lucid if instead of a chore, you make the whole affair a game. Do not get frustrated. Maybe ease off and just enjoy your dreams. All too often people are in such a hurry to develop their lucid skills that they forget to enjoy and appreciate the non-lucids they are already having. If you enjoy your dreams right now, REALLY ENJOY THEM, your subconscious mind will help better dreams to happen. Even lucids.

Well said Dannon! Enjoy all dreams you have, and this is also why daydreaming is very important. You want to imagine yourself completing the task, and not feeling relief, but pure joy! Get butterflies in your stomach and just look forward to the awesome feeling without putting too much pressure on yourself. Sometimes pressure works, but obviously not for you.

About crystals. There are threads about crystals in the "Beyond Dreaming" section, and they are said to give clearer dreams and so on. Let's say it's all bogus, then the placebo should probably work anyways.

Remember dreaming is another reality that is a great "bonus" in life. Do not let it replace the reality that is life, which is the important one.

You might want to read up on Rapid eye movement behavior disorder. A person in the REM stage of sleep is normally inhibited from physically acting out their dreams because of sleep paralysis. You might want to talk to a doctor if this issue persists.

Well that is just what I'm going to do, relax & enjoy the dreams I'm currently having. It will come sooner or later I guess. Just keep doing reality checks during the day so it transfers over into the subconscious. I don't become physically active every night, just every now & then, so I hope I don't need to see a Dr. about it. Did not have any recall what so ever this morning. I was doing very well with the recall & journal lately, I hope it was just a blank morning. Thanks everyone, advice taken. MAXX

That's why I said "Let's say" and actually stood up for the theory as it MIGHT be possible. I personally don't believe in it.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the use of crystals as something nonsensical. I bought a herkimer diamond recently and I had a lucid dream last night, as well as rather vivid dreams past few nights. I'm still trying to experiment with this whole crystal idea but based on what I've seen with the diamond I have, it seems rather promising. Crystals have some sort of energy that if used properly, can have certain healing effects...and some crystals supposedly help with dream consciousness/awareness.

It's going to be some time before I can obtain other crystals that are said to assist in lucid dreaming. But if I get them and it works (like if I get lucid dreams every night) I'll let you know. A placebo can't be so powerful to have lucids every night...when I currently get a lucid maybe once in two weeks without crystals.

I believe placebos can affect every aspect of the mind. Subconscious, conscious, awake, or asleep. Since the subconscious is what controls dreams it makes sense that if your subconscious is 100% positive that crystals will cause a lucid every night, then they can.
