      Problems with WILD

      Alright,

So last night I figured I would try to WILD one last time (before going back to DILD like I was told I should on this forum)to see if I could make it work this time. I was relaxed enough to get further than I have ever been before. (I think)

So I had gone into sleep paralysis like I always do, and I was just lay there trying to concentrate, and then I started feeling my eyes flickering behind my eyelids. (going into REM I guess) Although I found it REALLY difficult to keep my eyes closed through this, I waited until... My vision was filled with patterns that flashed from blue to red over and over. I also think I could see the silhouette of a man on a horse or something like that, after a while I couldnt manage to keep my eyes closed and woke up. My question is, does this mean that I am getting close and should try again to WILD, I only ask because I feel like more advanced dreamers no best but it just felt so close that I feel I should keep trying.

      Thanks in advance

First of all: when are your attempts at WILDing? When going to sleep, after WBTB, or during naps?

I basically try to do a short WBTB (just getting up for a glass of water and going to the toilet) every few nights, while also keeping up my awareness paired with RC's during the day. That way I can try to WILD every few nights, while also getting the added possibility of DILD.
As to how close you got. I have read before from people complaining about their eyes opening up, and read something there about trying a sleeping mask. Can't find the exact thread anymore but it was from today or yesterday. It also sounds as if you're trying a bit too hard, which is usually quite destructive for your attempts

The flashes and other things you saw sound like HI to me, and if you indeed got to sleep paralysis you might be getting close, yes
      Are you dreaming?

Thanks for the reply, I usually try to WILD after WBTB, but the night I started seeing HI, It was while I was going to sleep. I was told that I should wait until I had a few DILDs before carrying on with WILD, but I decided to try one last time and thats when I started seeing the HI. Anyways thanks again.

FWIW, it sounds similar to my (one and only ) experience. I agree with Ayanizz, the stuff you saw sounds very much like HI, which I had too. I think we just have to keep trying, keep practicing, and eventually we will finally transition. It so sucks, but I am right there with ya!

That's the spirit, bite through it I read your other thread about the problems you're having (trying to LD while having to take care of kids, and no reliable sleep pattern and so on) and I should actually answer this in that thread but hey: the suggestion posted on there about taking short naps (if possible) could be a saver WILDing through naps works well, you can find more info about it floating around somewhere

Skiddo: That's because DILD's are usually the easiest for newcomers, but you can never go wrong with trying when you have some time to spare right? Just try not to fuck up your sleep pattern too much WBTB's don't have to be very long, as I said. My first LD actually was a WILD (during a nap), and my first DILD only came last night (was way too short and more of a DEILD actually, seems like the week and a half of autosuggestion have payed off, I woke up without moving or opening my eyes)

Hmm. I've only had one WILD, but didn't experience anything like HI. I was told that it was probably because I was so relaxed that I wasn't paying attention. So, maybe try not to react or change what you're doing. I couldn't WILD at first because I was so hung up on what was going on, that I forgot that I needed to actually fall asleep.
Yeah... Hopefully this helps in some way, though it might not. ^_^'

Which reminded me! To the OP (and others involved/concerned/interested): if you have some time, read up on WILDs at the next few links I'm going to post here, it's some of the best stuff out there (imho)

Replied in that other thread so as to avoid persecution for thread highjacking
