Trying to have Lucid Dreams for 10 months...

      Hi all

      I think I tried to lucid dream 10 / 7 month's ago...(With pauses 12 weeks or something..)
I only tried DILD I do these reality checks: Looking at your hands and counting the fingers 2 times. Looking to Digital clock and looking away if it's the same. Asking during the day if I am dreaming. Looking at a text looking away and read it again.
      Reality checks a day : 10 / 20

      Well NO succes

I was so close... 1 week ago I was in a dream there I was in my room and looked to my hands and it was verry blurry then I said OMG I'm dreaming!!! then everything spinned and the dream ended... I didn't wake up.. I dont think it was a lucid dream I think it was just a dream that I dreamed to be lucid dreaming.

4 Months ago I had this:
I did a reality check in my dream I was on my room sleeping and in my dream I woke up so I did a reality check in that dream... I looked to my clock and everything was normal so I went back to sleep... The next day when I woke-up I was fucking angry... In that dream when I did a reality check there were 2 clocks next to me (a digital and a one with wisers) But in reallife I have only 1 clock a digital clock next to me...

      why I still fail???
I started 1.5 week ago again and browsed everyday the forum hope it will work now...
1 week ago I remembered 4 dreams in one night
      Now it's 1 per night I think...

I'm going to write down some keywords when I wake up on my iPod touch and then after having a shower i'm going to write it down on my computer the whole dream with all details.
Also is there a good app for making me lucid?
Something like a free app that you hear when sleeping a voice that says " you are dreaming " and then every 15 min while sleeping.
Or is there a free/cracked Timer app that makes a beep every 20min while sleeping? I can try to recognize the beep if I have a dream and become lucid?

      All tips are welcome!!!
      (I am a male, 15 years old)

      --------------------------------------------
And does somebody know what this is?

I don't know if this was a sleep paralysis but this happened 4 month's ago.
I was sleeping at my nephew (spell fail?) and we watched Parenamal Activity for 20 min, and he said I can't see this film anymore so we then watched Alien v Predators...
So when AvP finished we were going to sleep.. I really can't get in sleep it was fu annoying... so maybe 2 hours later this happened:
I was lying on my side but watching with my head for me like I see my feet. Then there came a ghost or a verry dark shadow it was maybe 1.5/2m away from me. I felt never so scarred... it came closer and closer.. my sight was getting darker and darker I tried to move but nothing happened I tried to screem fucking loud as I can but no sound... when the shadow / dark figure was about 0.50m away from me and I almost saw nothing maybe 5% off the normal view and then there something happened and EVERYTHING was back normal my heartbeath was fucking high... It was just total terror maybe 3/4 hours later I fell in sleep finally...

Hi! When you do a RC you gotta be very critical to everything. Expect to see 6-7 fingers and when you don't, you will realise you're still awake. If you don't put the attention part in with the checking part, you might miss alot of opportunities when you do a RC but still don't realise it's a dream. Everytime you do a RC, you WILL realise you're dreaming.

Also, yeah the last one sounds just like a scary Sleep Paralysis. Nothing to be afraid of, awesome things only in your head

Have you tried MILD or WBTB? They are great when combined. Only DILD doesn't seem to cut it for you.

Good luck and keep on dreaming!

      Thanks for the tips
About MILD and WBTB you get a Sleep Paralysis and just ignore it lying still and then you will land in a lucid dream, right?
I wanna try it but i'm scarred because I have a verry bad experience with Sleep Paralysis (that ghost story in begin post).
Now i'm thinking let's try it in the weekend when I have no school.. But when it's weekend and i'm lying in my bed and everything is dark im just to scarred..

How is your dream recall? Can you normally remember at least one dream per night?

It sounds like you are doing the right things. Try a Wake Back To Bed (WBTB) whenever you have time. It should improve your chances quite a bit.

You don't have to pass through sleep paralysis. Just wake yourself up in the middle of the night, stay awake for a few minutes thinking about lucid dreaming and affirming that you WILL have one when you return to sleep. Then, when you return to sleep, imagine what it will be like when you become lucid. Fall asleep normally, but try to make yourself remember to reality check. You don't need to deal with any of the wacky WILD type stuff. You're just waking in the middle of the night to remind yourself to reality check and become lucid.

If you want to stick with DILD you can try this. Next time you lay down for bed, think about LDing for a few moments. Tell yourself (out loud if necessary) that you will definitely have a lucid dream tonight. Think in your mind, that you will easily become lucid without fail. Its a little bit like acting. Act as if you are a lucid dreaming pro, and you have multiple lucid dreams every night. Tonight won't be any different, its easy! 100% commit to these ideas and believe that you will have one. Drift off to sleep with confidence, knowing that you are about to experience the world of lucid dreaming. You would be surprised how often this simple method works. Know that, the first LD is often times the hardest. Once you have a few and get some experience, they will become easier and easier. Just something to try and get you sparked. The key is to not get frustrated. If you go to be thinking that you wont be able to lucid, then you won't be able to. Believe it 100% and it will happen. Just don't get frustrated. Keep working at it and it will pay of in the end!

This night I had a dream...
I was in my room and my PC had a verry bright LED light (computer not monitor) So I was lying in my bed watching at the beautiful light.
There was also storm with rain and thunder outside so when there came thunder or a lighting bolt from outside the LED light just wen off for some sec and then it was on again 1/2 sec later. The LED light flashed hole time..
I was scarred maybe my PC was getting craches because the weather outside.. So I closed the power from the PC and went back to bed.

But in real life I haven't a red LED light on my PC case...

This was the only dream I remembered this night... It was so dark and have all the details in my room... it was so real...

Hope this night it will be better

I am not sure, but I think you expect more from reality checks then they really do. You do not magically decide 'oh well, this is not normal, it must be a dream' because you reality check in waking life. That is the point as I understand this, you have no sense for logic in a dream, your dad being a yello alien monster is perfectly normal when dreaming. The actual thing is to be critical to your environment in waking life, performing reality checks on repetative actions and hope you condition yourself to adedept to this in a dream. This will activate your sense of logic and make you realize you are dreaming.

      Come, thick night,
And pall thee in the dunnest smoke of hell,
That my keen knife see not the wound it makes,
Nor heaven peep through the blanket of the dark,
      To cry, 'Hold, hold!'

Here are some nice dreams I remembered since some months ago (Sorry for gramm fail I gonna typ this fast)

Was in my neighboorhood but it rained and somebody with a car drived to me and say step-in I'll take you to your home when I was in the car he drove a other way where my house is so I said WTF are you doing then he changed into a zombie then I opened the car door and jumped out then I run run run but it was verry slow the zombie followed me and then I had a knife and knifed him about 10 times then he still didn't die... so was close to my home my mother was calling " Kevin come to home we're gonna have dinner"

Every time you look at your PC now, search for that LD light and do a reality check (whether it is there or not). It may show up again in your dream and you will be able to use the opportunity to become lucid. Just keep staying positive and you will get there!

This Night I dreamed about that I was in my room (same as last dream) and it was day-time.
But there was storm with hard wind and rain (like last dream) but I had a quarrel with my father or something
My father was down stairs in the living room and he was throwing everything like tables and chairs (I didnt see it but you heard it) but he was sick or something that made him angry and then someone from downstairs screamed you need to beat him up.

Then the dream ended and I woke up at 3:20 I did some reality checks and everything was normal then 1 hour later I feel in sleep again.

It's weird because I never have a fight / quarrel with my father in real life...
And it was at my moms house so how the f* my father can be there..

Hope the WBTB technique will make me lucid

Keep up the recall like you are doing and performing your RCs. You will have one soon enough. Keep working at it and stay confident. Good Luck to you!

Yesterday some blurry dreams I think it's because I had a party that night (party = alcohol) and went to sleep at 03:45.
I was at that party in my dreams and yeah really weird, lol.
      -------------------------------------------------------------------
I tried the WBTB technique but I accidently set the alarm to his lowest volume so I didn't wake-up and the alarm is good because the alarm is only 2 sec and then it goes automaticlly off.

So this was my blurry dream. (Bad dream recall)
I was again in my room and I was spraying deodorant in my room and throwed a firelighter to it so everything exploded, but it failed

So I gonna try the WBTB method this is what I gonna do.
      Go to sleep at 10 - 11 o'clock
Then set my alarm to 6 hour's later (So if I gonna sleep at 10 clock I set it to 4:00)
Then I gonna watch 10 minutes to this Lucid Dream video on my iPod touch: youtube.com/watch?v=VzFpg271sm8
Do some reality check and think about the video and try to do the same in my mind.
And ofcourse I will get a Lucid Dream !!!

This night had a really short dream (15 sec I remember) I was lying on the bank in the living room. Then my cat jumped on me and in his eyes you saw that he was going to kill me, lol.
Then you saw his really sharp nailes and he was going to kill me, dream ended...

I really don't see dream signs... only most dreams I spend in my room is the biggest dream sign I think.

Tomorrow night I gonna try WBTB.
I tried it this night WBTB but I woke up at 2'oclock from something... and I didn't know if it worked because I lost sleep...
Also this night I watched at my clock and the numbers were changing faster then normal that I thought so I was OMG im in a dream and my heartbeat went higher then I did many reality checks and I was in real life... pfff

      Hi, xXTITANXx.
I have noticed you're really desperate to get one of those LDs.
You kNow what, stop trying to get one of these just imagine it instead and expect it to happen. Let me tell you something interesting. The more you try to do something consciously the harder it gets most of the time.(Of course effort is important but dont push it) It's called the law of reversed effect. If you want to get that lucid dream tonight just follow what i say. I would suggest you to try that WBTB or MILD, I cannot assure you that you Will get that Lucid Dream but it Will increase your chances. Let me know if it worked.

      All the best,
      Miomek.

      Hi thanks for the tip

I will try it wednesday because I can wake up at a normal time (Some lessons dont start that morning)
So can someone confirm that this is good?

Going to sleep set your alam clock 6 hour's laten then you gonna sleep so if I gonna go to bed at 10 o'clock my alarm will be 4:00

Then I wake-up at 4:00 watch some matrix scenes and do some reality checks thinking about that this is a dream and go back 20 min later to sleep (4:20)

      Have a Lucid Dream ?

Good luck with your dreaming. Also i would suggest you to go to sleep without watching anything (simply imagine yourself in LD or something) it will wake you up too much I think, but its up to you. If you wanna read some more on WBTB check http://www.dreamviews.com/wiki/WBTB-Tutorial if you havent already.

      1 Dream:
      Vivid -
Dream started I was in the car with my little sitster and my dad he drive us to our mothers house so I stept out of the car. And was walking to my mothers house (Sister was not anymore in my dream... damn I didn't become lucid :p) then I wanna take my keys so I was going with my hands in my pocket and had a keychaing with about 20 keys so I was like WtFFF?! So I called my father that I had his keys.
Me " Hey I have your keys blabla)
Dad " Wow, u stole them? why you did that
      Me " no i didnt i swear
Dad " ok I gonna pick them up
      Me " Ok
So I hang-up then there came a buch of little kids maybe 15 kids (age 8) running near me.
Then a friend said hey Kevin let's go to the supermarket. I said no I need to wait for my father I have his keys..
Then the my dream scene skipped to that I was in the supermarket
Dream skipped to I was at a cafe
My father said blabla nice that you find my keys here you have 6 can's of beer
I'm 15 in real life he never would give this in real life, lol.
But the cans from heineken were weird I can't get them in my hands they were falling whole time..
I gave 3 cans to a guy who worked there at the cafe and he let the cans fall to whole time
So I was going to the bar bar (When you can buy alcohol etc..) And I put the cans on the table and they where whole time moving they were unstable you can't set them still.... they were magic or something, lol.
Then I saw my mother and she was like WTF how you get beer.
      Dream ended?

      2 Dream:
      Blurry dream
Was in a game but the graphics were horrible (Like a iPhone/iPod FPS game) I was shooting blue/red zombies and I cannot move only aim at the zombies and shoot them I remember that I was at a map from Modern Warfare 2 "Skidrow map".
      Dream ended?
