Question In an attempt to convey frustration...

Hello all, I'm new. I've been familiar with this site for a while now, but I just made an account. I'm a 16 year old high school student. I am fluent in C/C++ and can find my way around most scripting languages. (Hoping to be a Computer Scientist!) (a problem, though) I started attempting WILDs, and got really close, too. I get to the beginning of SP aand... nothing. I'll lay there for an hour getting into SP and floating out again. What's worse, now that I've tried to do that, I seem to have activated some kind of insomnia. Could ADD medication have something to do with it? I also have to take painkillers because I recently had my wisdom teeth taken out. :B Or am I just unable to do this?

Hi, welcome to Dreamviews! Once you reach SP, it's best to continue relaxing into it and ignore any hallucinations you might be getting. If the transition doesn't seem to advance, you might have to create a dream scenario around yourself to help it along - imagine sensations like touch (a very important one, IMO), sight, and smell, and imagine yourself in a place of your choice, or doing something. It can help trick your mind into thinking you're asleep, speeding up the dream formation process.

The "insomnia" problem isn't that uncommon, I had some kind of that when I first started, too. It's as if even when I'm not trying to WILD, I'm involuntarily trying to stay awake. If you aren't attempting a WILD, try daydreaming or using other techniques that help you fall asleep faster. I find that when I keep focus on my body and even think about WILDing, it can keep me up. Stay away from that and just let your thoughts wander.

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with painkillers or a certain type of medication, but what I've written above is my personal explanation for it.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Thanks, I'll try that. I was trying to passively experience things, but I probably got too carried away with forcing SP.

Hi! Welcome to DV, I'm like rarely on. If they are new, any new thing to your body will usually throw it off, so maybe that's why.

Well, seeing as I've still got post-op pains (no sympathy, please) and a sore throat keeping me from succeeding at meaningful sleep, I'll just wait it out and get to WILDing later. I tried again, this time I just laid there waiting for an hour.

      Hey welcome to DV!!

Pretty much do what puffin said, and yeah just wait it out until you feel better. Your chances will probably be slimmer if you don't feel good IMO.

Also since you are in high school you might just want to stick with a DILD because you don't wanna loose a lot of sleep. It's just not a good idea IMO.

      Anyways good luck!
