      Begginer In Need of Help

Hey everyone, im new to lucid dreaming and ive been trying it out for about a month now. Ive have 3 lucid dreams but theres always one problem. In my dreams I wake up in my room but its pitch black. Im just wondering, how exactly would I be able to make light appear in my room without waking up? Every time I try, It stays dark and i eventually just drift back into a regular dream or I wake up.

Maybe you real room (In Reality) is dark. Cuz dreams depends on your reality. For e.x. I had man who's dreams was very often in home, friends house, village, and other closed thinks. And the problem was that he was rarely going out of his house... And when he started to hang out a little more It was same in his dreams. It all depends about you memory, life..

But not you all dreams In you room? When you will dream out of house, you won't lose lucidity

You could use verbal commands. Next time, shout: "Light on!" or something similar. If the dream is pitch black, it's a sign that the dream is unstable. Wait or try to visualize and you should start seeing in a while if the verbal commands doesn't work. Good luck!

I don't really want to offer advice, because I'm still trying to have my first lucid dream. But are you sure it's a lucid dream and not an OBE (Out of body experience)? A way to tell would be next time you find yourself waking up in your room and it's dark, look at your bed and see if you're lying there asleep. Just something to think about.

This always seems to happen when I do WILD's, but not the pitch black thing, If I were you, I would do the same thing others are telling you, command the lights to come on, and if at first you dont succeed, try try again . Also, know that since its a lucid dream, your words have a lot more power than they do in waking reality, you have to actually believe and expect the lights to turn on when you say so, otherwise they won't which can be hard at times because you haven't fully accepted that anything is possible. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the advice. One more thing. If it is an OBE I should be laying on the bed right?

Right. Your physical body will still be laying in bed. Sometimes, though, the mere act of seeing your body detached from you (your consciousness) is enough to draw you back into it.

So what exactly is the difference between an OBE and a lucid dream? What could you do differently?

Since I've never had a lucid dream OR an OBE, all I can tell you about then is what I've read. In a lucid dream, you're aware inside of a dream. But in an OBE, your consciousness (or spirit or soul) actually separates from your physical body and you feel yourself "floating" in midair. And like lucid dreaming, you can do most anything you want: flying, walk through walls, visit faraway places, etc. Everything I know about OBE's I learned from reading Adventures Beyond the Body by William Buhlman. That's also how I first found out about lucid dreaming. He mentions it in the book.

OBE's are not scientifically proven to exist. Same as Shared Dreaming, Astral Projection or dreams that are to come true. They say the feeling of an OBE is different though, but it could just aswell be a False Awakening.
