Falling back to sleep and back into a dream scenario?

I experienced this a few nights ago and wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I was having a dream involving talking with my uncle, who is actually dead in real life. I woke up, briefly, and almost immediately settled back to sleep. Bam! It's like I never left the conversation, I'm right back with my uncle in the same place, in the same conversation.

It was just really weird to me that that happened. It's like my brain didn't leave the wavelength it was on. Is this something I can use to achieve lucidity?

I'm not sure about using it for lucidity, as I am not too experienced with it, and most of my LD's have had a rather low level of lucidity.
I have tried waking from dreams and go back to sleep only to find myself in the same scenario though. Sometimes it's due to visualizing about the dream I just had, mostly if it was a good dream - but it happens sort of spontaneously as well.

I hope others will chime in with answers to the remainder of the question.

It's absolutely a great way to achieve lucidity!!

It's called DEILD - Dream Exit Initiated Lucid Dreaming. Because basically - well, it happens when you exit a dream. I've done it a couple times myself, but haven't become lucid from it. It was really cool though just to be able to fall right back asleep and re-enter the same dream scenario.

For me it wasn't quite exactly the same when I went back in - it was like the same dream, but some things had changed a bit. The location wasn't quite the same, and maybe a few other things. Sort of like a remake of a movie where it's the same story, but you keep noticing little things that are different.

Here's an article about DEILD: DEILD Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

      Also known as Dream Chaining.

What darkmatters said is spot on, its called a DEILD, but from what you described, it seems as if you were unconscious before re-entering the dream. Next time you wake up from a dream like this, if you become aware of the fact that you have just dreamt and you remember not to move, you will most likely fall into SP effects, and from there into a lucid dream if you remain calm enough. I used this technique once, when I became lucid, then I woke up as the dream ended but i stayed still and aware of the fact that I am waking up, right when I left the dream, I was already in SP on my bed and felt all the usual effects I feel like when I am WILD'ing, and within seconds I was back into the dream.
