      Howdy

      Hi everybody.

I just joined the forum as I have recently become interested in lucid dreaming as it sounds like some fun and a potentially gratifying experience. Just a bit about me: I'm 20 and am a student at Texas A&M University. I'm studying Electrical Engineering. Anyways, I just wanted to greet you all and let you know that any pointers you guys have on getting started to achieving lucid dreams are welcome. I don't know a whole lot about practices I should be doing other than getting in the habit of doing reality checks. I'd appreciate any tips y'all have.

      Thanks,
      T

Hey pittstop.....welcome to Dreamviews! My brother is in college and actually interested in engineering.

Anyway I recommend you read The Beginner's Guide to Lucid Dreaming written by Puffin. It will talk about dream recall, the different techniques to get lucid, and many more topics. It should help! Good luck getting lucid If you have any questions or problems please message me.

Welcome to Dreamviews! There's also a lot of info in the Attaining Lucidity section, as well as help from people there!

Hey pittstop, welcome! You're probably already having summer break from college, right? This is a very good time to start learning something new.

If you plan on sticking around, there's an introduction to LDing course going on now. There is also a course for Dream Initiated Lucid Dream technique. The guide that Mancon linked you to is also very helpful and contains a ton of information in it. This forum has mountains of useful LD info, just a few keystrokes away.

So what RCs have you been using? If you focus primarily on reality checks, it would also be good for you to observe yourself and/or your surroundings when you RC: where are you, why are you in that place, what were you doing and why, what you were doing five minutes ago, how do you feel?

I saw something somewhere that said draw a dot on my hand and every time I look at it do a reality check so I've been doing that. Usually I do a combo of the plug the nose method and the checking to see if numbers/words change when I look back at them. I actually had a WILD last night. Possibly I had success because I got so excited about the concept of LDing that it was literally all I could think about before going to sleep. Nonetheless, as a first time experience it was amazing. I used the force to bring a gun from the ground and into my hand, and I slowed down bullets matrix style. Can't wait for more experiences thanks for the welcome guys.

      Hey, welcome to DreamViews!

I think the others have already pointed you to some great information, so the best thing I can say is work on writing down your dreams daily in some form. The effort to recall your dreams helps you pay attention to details and get more acquainted with the perceptions you experience while dreaming.

Hey, we have another member of the forum who is in College Station, Linkzelda. He also went through the Intro class recently, though he has been on the forum longer. It really helps with the basics and reconnecting with technique. I hope you check it out.

The rest of the forum is cool also! Come say hi!

Congrats on the WILD, pittstop! That's great that you managed it. A lot of people consider WILD difficult to do, myself included. Congrats on what I assume is your first lucid!
