Hello everyone, I'm Jarrod. I just found this site on a whim. I remember about 80% of all dreams I have. I think LOL.

I truly believe on the days I don't remember having a dream, my soul has left my body. And that is why I have dejavuee moments.

I have had many dreams inside of other dreams. Most I have ever had is 3 deep. I'm the type of dreamer that is able to wake myself up when I realize I am in a dangerous situation, or I realize it is just a dream, and I just let play through.

I dream in color and time my dreams feel real that I get caught up in them.

Well gotta go for now but I will be back. Glad I found this site.

      Jrod

      Welcome to the forums!

It sounds like your recall is already pretty good but you should still start a dream journal in which you write down your dreams you can remember. This helps you to build up your recall as well as find dream signs (recurring themes) that can help you get lucid. This will also help with your "soul leaving your body." You should also learn about various induction techniques, the two main categories being DILD (dream induced lucid dream-realizing you're dreaming while inside the dream) and WILD (wake induced lucid dreaming-going directly from a waking state to a dream). There are also many different variations to these techniques so you'll have to experiment a little bit to find which one works best for you.

You also should definitely read up on various reality checks, actions preformed to confirm whether or not you are dreaming. Some of these include plugging your nose and trying to breathe through it (while in a dream you should be able to breathe), looking at your hands (there will often be extra/missing fingers or random deformations), and looking at text (which appears jumbled up in dreams) or looking at a digital clock, turning away, then looking back (the clock will often change or read something absurd like 38:41 or 8:92). Once you do all this you should be right on track to having consistent lucid dreams

The dreams inside of dreams you mentioned are called false awakenings. They're exactly what they sounds like; it's when you wake up from a dream only to realize that you're still in a dream and never technically woke up. You sound a lot like myself in the sense that I trained myself as a small child to recognize a recurring nightmare which then made me lucid. I only woke myself up from it though since I didn't know you could do whatever you wanted

Welcome to Dream Views! The fact that you can awake from nightmares is a great sign for getting lucid.

Thanks all, and Burke, you mention this wake induced lucid dreaming-going directly from a waking state to a dream.

My wife is always is in shock how quickly I dream. She will tell me I was only sleeping for a second and when I wake I tell her about this long drawn out dream and she can't believe it. Is that what you are talking about?

It sounds like you have some amazing dreams. I look forward to hearing more about them. Feel free to start an online dream journal, if you like.

Possibly, though WILDs normally take longer and have noticeable steps in them such as sleep paralysis (doesn't always happen but often) and hypnagogic hallucinations (again, not always but often). Also for it to be a WILD you have to be lucid in the dream, otherwise you're just falling asleep. You may fall asleep quickly which could mean quickly slipping into REM (the stage of sleep during which most dreams occur) and have a dream, then wake up directly afterwards, but it's not a WILD unless you know you're dreaming and have no lapses in consciousness.

Most of the time I am dreaming I know I am dreaming. As for sleep paralysis, this is something I think I have encountered.

Example: I have had many dreams where I hear this very high pitch noise and a lot of mumbled sounds or words, but I can't make them out. And one time I seen this white light surrounded by a rainbow of colors. When I realize the noise was to deafening I tried to wake myself up, and when I thought I was awake I couldn't budge. That freaked me out because I could see everything infront of me but couldn't move a muscle. When i finally did wake up, I felt like I got hit with a ton of bricks. There is been many of times where i go to bed and I instantly hear this high pitch noise and mumbled words so I fight falling asleep but dam it's hard.

And another thing, that just happened to me less than 20 minues ago, I woke up and just sat there, and realized it was starting to rain, so I went outsidei to put a car in my shop so it doesn't get wet. And when I first woke up I was also humming this song "bad, bad, leroy brown baddest man in the whole downtown" So as I am outside putting the car in the shop I get out of the car and I hear n the radio "bad bad leroy brown" I laughed and smiled. Another thng is I never wake up at 2:30 in the morning. it's like my sunconscious is in tune with nature and it knew that the car was going to get wet and that would only slow me down in the morning so it woke me up. Anyway I am going back to bed now. Have a good night and dream dream dream.

Do you think you get enough sleep? Normally, sleep deprivation will cause us to go directly into a dream. Some people take advantage of this, and alter their sleep patterns to be constantly taking short naps. You should definitely read through some WILD guides. It sounds like you are already experiencing WILD.

I have been told I do not get enough sleep but I can only sleep 6 hours tops so during the day a nice 20 minute nap makes me feel so alive again.
