      Wassup LDers?

Hey guys! I'm new but not exactly new to the world of lucid dreaming. I've decided however, to start taking LDing more seriously instead of just hoping it would work.

I've read over the beginners guide and have been researching dreams and such for the past few months. I decided however, that joining this site would be the perfect step to start keeping a good DJ and hopefully achieve lucidity. I've figured out which techniques I plan to use and everything.

My questions for you guys is this:
I have crohns disease and ive never been able to get it under 'control' (long story), will this have any major effect on my attempts to lucid dream? It does cause me to get up around 3 times (at least) through out the night...

Dream powers, i know that its literally limited only by your imagination, but is there anything in depth. Anything i can read up on about the dream world and things of that nature Not in the Jung and Freud since though, I can find countless of information on that...

      Thanks!

Welcome to Dreamviews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Help yourself to some potato salad and a coffee.

I don't think you'll have a problem with LDing, the WBTB method requires that you get up, so having to get up anyways shouldn't affect you. Just update your DJ when you get up.

As far as literature is concerned, if you could be more specific I may be able to help. Are you talking about dream symbolism? LDing specifically? Theories about why we dream?

That literature isn't exactly what I'm talking about, though I wouldn't mind a really good dream dictionary of some sort.

So crohns itself wont have any major effect? i mean I have malnutrition and such because of it...

I would recommend Robert Monroe's work. It's a bit spiritual although when you start exploring the dream world you can't help but noticing that you start to get spiritual as well.
I mean I have experienced quite a bit now in my four years of practice but I am still not a master. What you find in the realm of your dreams is more than past memories and associations.
But all that you have to experience for yourself. You can either google search for Monroes books in PDF (or buy them) or you can start with guided instructions here:

The Gateway Experience - Wave I - 1 - Orientation - YouTube MANUAL here: Complete Hemi Sync Gateway Experience Manual

Robert Monroe approach the phenomena with a more scientific perspective but when he experience conversations in his dreams that is confirmed by his friends later on he starts his little spiritual journey, just like many others have done because of him. So I definitely recommend his books if you want to read something in depth.

But if you already have planned out your way you should try that and just ask if you have any questions

A little motivation for ya: Vivid dreams are not dependent on REM. You can WILD at any time of the day and night (provided that you can maintain aware and not be too tired).
Real is only a position or perspective. and from my dream last night (which also is in my signature now ) "Beyond your reality lies a reality of the oversparked" - No idea what it ment.

And about your disease I am not sure what it is, but a friend of mine have rsi and other stuff that he thought would prevent him from lucid dream. But he is doing fine and I think you will as well

      Good luck

I thought crohns disease is often associated with abdominal pains and lack of concentration or even other neurological problems (I think), this might make it a little harder to try out certain techniques. I guess you will only know once you try

I haven't read about any crazy neurological problems from it. I have read about the concentration problems, and such. However, I do not have any concentration problems due to it, and I don't really have abdominal pain. I do, but not enough for it to be a big deal. I just repeatedly will get up multiple times through out the night, especially depending on what I had eaten for dinner.

Also, Crohn's disease is very similar to Ulcerative Colitis and IBS/IBD. I would post a wikipedia link, but I can't because of being a freshly registered user.

Hey, getting up throughout the night though is the perfect time to start practicing my WILD. And while I haven't successfully succeeded, it does seem to have helped my dream recall a bit.

If you can wake up without moving or opening your eyes you should try Deild. Often people fail Deild because they cannot wake up naturally, you might be able to use this to your advantage dakotahnoks DEILD tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

Yeah, I had almost successfully accomplished that this morning. I had woken up, and luckily didn't open my eyes. So of course I'm like "Awesome! Now I can just reenter" Well, in the process of me realizing I hadn't opened my eyes and I was in that transition phase, I ended up feeling my physical body more and more. Due to that, I ended up having to get up to go to the bathroom before I could even really attempt to reenter the dream. Not really a big deal, because I could just do the WBTB/WILD technique right? Nope, the puppy decides to wake up also and wimpering non stop to go out to the bathroom. So I let them out, then 5 minutes later the oldest dog decides to bark repeatedly to come in. After that, my whole family ends up waking up, including my little brothers and the noise commences.

Is living in such a noisy house starting at 7am EVERY day, going to be a major hindrance on my attempts at Lucid Dreaming? It's been in the back of my head that living in a noisy house where no one knows how to honestly just sit and be quiet, and having a chronic illness that forces me to get up throughout the night will make Lucid Dreaming so drastically hard for me, that it almost makes me want to not attempt it.

Well once you learn how to do it in under a minute it shouldn't be a problem right? If you can reenter your dream fast enough before any dogs wak you up . It really is worth the try, LD's are just so awesome it would be a same just giving up. The only way to find out is to put it to practise. Whenever I fail a DEILD I tell myself that I am one step closer to succeeding the next attempt.

Don't mind what I said about giving up. I wasn't really going too, I was just extremely pissed off with the whole situation this morning haha. I was very close to a WILD the other night, and of course having the perfect time to DEILD coming up last night, definitely makes me want to keep going.

There is just so much information on this site, I can't stop reading lol.

      I know right.
In a way you have a blessing and a curse. Im having so much trouble staying awake for Deild since last week, I wish I could wake up without all the autosuggestion.
