      is this a lucid dream

so last night i had a dream that seemed like real life where i was at school getting some food then i saw my dad in a red truck where in real life he has a silver truck i payed a lttle attention to that in my dream but not much, my dad was supposed to pick me up but he drove past me and left my sight i then teleported to the last spot that i could see him and there was a door and i thought he must have drove past here so i opened the door and the sky turned pitch black and a monster hopped out at me and i was scared but i managed to tell my self to beat up the creature in my dream i actually just started punching it and i could hear my self screaming from fear in the dream and i realized that this might be a lucid dream (i thought this in the dream) so i tried to jump up and fly like i heard you can do in lucid dreams but i just woke up . as soon as i calmed down i thought about that dream and it ended up being that the door i opened led me into a video game world called condemned 2. the world that i was in after i opened the door in my dream was the exact same world in the video game. so i this my first lucid dream ?

It is easy to decide. Ask yoursellf if at any point you knew it was a dream. Did you just dream of suspecting it may be, or did you even for a moment realize it was a dream. We try not to over complicate what counts as an LD. If you knew it was a dream, even for a second, then it counts as your first LD. If not, well you are getting very close.

I agree with sivason. The only criteria for a dream to be lucid, is to realize inside of a dream that you are dreaming. It sounds like you did, but if you not sure, if could have been a false lucid. It's when you dreaming about lucid dreaming.

You are not mentioning any excitement at the moment of realization. It's possible not to feel it, but I think that most of the people get super excited, especially in first LD. That's one of the most common reasons to wake up prematurelly.

But either way, you are on the doorstep of having LD. Step up your awareness training, together with RCs and mantras and writing in your dream journal. Here is an article about all things needed for a DILD. Please do ask if you have any questions.

And if this is your first post, welcome to Dreamviews!
