      Talking Hi LDers!

I'm Toby and I've recently become interested in Lucid Dreaming. I've read about it before, although I don't remember when, a long time ago to say at least. I decided to join this forum because I want to learn on how I can lucid dream since I tried WILD but I just can't do it, and the way that my bed is made, I can't go and just write something down in a Dream Journal. Once, I was so desperate I tried reality checks while I still wasn't actually sleeping, haha . I hope I can learn from you guys, as I really want to find a way to lucid dream without having to use a journal. I also have an alarm on my phone just in case.
Hope to hear something back from you guys!

      Welcome Toby! or SuperToby

The decision to join this forum was a good one

Since I first joined I have learned lots of things, not only when it comes to lucid dreaming but to many other things, for example, my English have improved. ^-^
But of course my understanding about life and dreams have changed and have made me grow as a person.

In return I try to help as many people as I can so if you need any help just ask.

      Oh and sweet dreams...

      Hi Toby

Make sure to check this out: http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/ . Glad to have you on board! Also what did you mean by doing reality checks while you were awake? Reality checks are normally practiced while you are awake, hehehe. That habit is what carries over into the dream.

As for the dream journal, well it isn't completely necessary to keep one. Though it is pretty helpful to keep track, and to improve your recall especially if you're starting out. You don't have to write them down once you wake up (though it is recommended to prevent you from forgetting). If you can't write them down right away, you can use some mnemonics to help you remember them until you are able to jot them down later.

I see you have given WILD a shot. If you would like to pursue WILDs, I recommend reading through WILD (Sageous)

If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask! Good luck

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Apparently I can't edit my post

I'm sorry for double posting but I can't edit..
Anyway, I wanted to say that I tried WILD a few times now and it just won't work!
Are there any other ways? Easier ways? I tried laying still, going to the bathroom before sleeping, drinking chocolate milk before going to sleep, nothing works.
      halp!

SuperToby if I am going to give you my take on what you need to practise in order to learn to WILD I need more than this information.

"Laying still and drinking chocolate milk before going to bed" just doesn't give me a clear picture of your attempt, however I just have to say that I would love if WILD was that simple.

But try to describe exactly in detail what you did on your WILD attempt and I might be able to help you better.

      1. I lay down on bed.
      2. All lights are off
      3. I keep laying still on my back while having my eyes closed, not too tight but normal.
      4. I try the fire, warm, coffee, drink, food, fish mind game thingy while still lying down. If that doesn't work, I..
      5. ...try to think ''I'm going to lucid dream'' on each breath, like this. ''inhale, 1. exhale, I'm gonna lucid dream. inhale, 2. exhale, I'm gonna lucid dream''
What am I doing wrong? And whats the easiest way/!

First of all if you do this on bedtime, don't expect to start dreaming immediatelly, if this is going to work you basically have to relax and have a calm mind in 1 h and 30+ minutes
In other words be relaxed until the first REM period. So a good idea is to use the WBTB technique combined with your attempts.

I am not a fan of methods and exact instructions of how to learn to lucid dream (when it comes to mastering it), but I am going to make an exception because well I am currious to see if this can help you.

This is what I am going to try myself, mainly for OBEs but well it uses the same kind of general ideas that you use to induce an lucid dream.

I want to know if it an effective method and why it works (if it works) and well you wanted a method so I guess it's a win win situation for both of us, here you go: (Don't mind the scary images ... nothing can hurt you in the dream and well if you have fears you need to deal with that in order to lucid dream anyway so..)

It has nothing to do with images of the video here is a texted version:

      http://www.dreamviews.com/f19/fantas...-method-98062/

And here is a text about how to overcome fears. (If you want to WILD and still have fears it is very important):

Dealing With The Fear of Astral Projection... - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

You can use what ever mehod you like, I just thought it was a good step by step process guide to try out.

I thought OBE wasn't the same as lucid dreaming.
btw, do you know a good WBTB tut?
edit: I don't get that tutorial at all, and another question, are any methods even possible when I'm 13 and haven't reached puberty yet?
edit 2: I don't want anything to do with that friken beedekin guy, I see that he made that creepy video. please, no.
I want either WILD or another method, not this.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

If you want to learn lucid dreaming, please read paigeyamps post again. All the links she provided - that's the bst way to start. Read the beginner's tut. If you want to learn how to WILD, read sageouses tut. It's the best we have. Please, don't expect it to be as simple as have some chocolate milk and staying still.

Don't forget about keeping a dream journal. Read as many threads on DV as you can to learn more about lucid dreaming.

In general, I recommend to start out with method called DILD. Here is an article about DILD.

Lucid dreaming is simple, but you need to know at least the basics. So start reading and once you have more questions, please post them.

Lucid dreams are not the same as OBEs, although some people believe OBEs are WILDs. For some reason that I don't understand, nowadays are some people starting to call lucids dreams OBEs, just because they say, in both of them you are out of your body. But lucid dreams are dreams, and OBEs are astral projections and other projections and calling them the same is just plain incorrect and confusing. Happy dreams

Like I said, I can't have a dream journal >_< I have a high bed where I have to climb down and by the time I sit on my desk I probably will already forget it, and my computer is in the living room which is downstairs. I also barely ever dream. Like, I seriously haven't had any dreams for, what, 2 months?

So having a bunk bed would stop you from having a dream journal? Put it under your pillow? And if you don't remember your dreams, how you gonna remember your lucid dream? It's not an accident that we recommend a DJ. Writing in it will help you with remembering more and more of your dreams, because everybody dreams about 5 dreams a night. In the article about DILD I linked is information about how DJ will help with recall.

I see.. I will consider it. I think I'm gonna try a FILD today, see if that works..
EDIT: Hm! Something happened! When I was laying on my bed, I tried FILD, and my body started feeling strange, then I tried WILD and stopped FILD, my body felt stranger and I felt like I was getting goosebumps. At one moment, my eyes suddenly started to move around rapidly... I tried to imagine myself to be in a dream, but I failed..
      Any explanation on what happened?
