      hello all

ok so this has probably been repeated to death in this forum many times but i am brand new to lucid dreaming (had my first last night) and want to learn how to use it to better my allround life. i managed to do what i think was a w.i.l.d. and w.b.t.b. (not great with the termenology but what happened was i had just finished a dream and woke up, thought about the dream for a minute and wote it down, and then as i was falling back to sleep i tried counting my breaths, somthing recomended to me by a friend, and after a while i just got this feeling that i could enter my dream, and i did) i realy enjoyed that dream but dident have a whole lot of controll over it so i decided to come to the forums here and see what i could learn. i have allready found some interesting things on the site and am looking forward to trying some tonight. now i realy have no idea whats what around here and would love some directions or sugestions around the site. i am realy hoping that this site will help bring me closer to the wonderfull world of lucid dreaming, and maybe i can make some freinds in my quest. anyway i guess thats my intro thanks for reading a very long drawn out, half sleeping, post.

Well howdy there BladeWind! Welcome to the forums and the world of Lucid Dreaming! That indeed sounds like a form of WILD, of which I am jealous because those are usually hard to do successfully.

Let's see, first off a hint with dream control. Controlling your dreams is much like the film "The Matrix." If you haven't seen it then the best way to understand is to know that events are controlled by expectation. An example: when you have nightmares and you feel like something is stalking you, you expect some horrifying creature to be behind you when you turn around. It usually is, makes you jump and you wake up. I would dare to say that if you expected a fluffy bunny to be behind you instead, that is what you would have seen.

You can use this to your advantage in Lucid Dreams. If you want to do something like fly, you only need to expect that you will be able to and you should be good. Of course things like dream vividness and lucidity levels come in to play, as a more vivid dream will be harder to convince yourself because it feels more real. Also if you only have partial lucidity it makes it equally as difficult to believe things will work as you are doubting that the dream is really a dream. It takes practice, but those are the essentials.

As for the forums, I guess the main places I would point out are:
General Lucid Discussion which you can pretty much post any questions you have there.
You might like the Dream Control section for advice and ideas on better controlling your dreams.
And last, of course, is the Tutorials section! Great for learning new ways to become lucid (Or even just perfecting methods you already know)! I do suggest you look up the DILD method if you don't know where to start. Even though you had a WILD, and heck you might be a natural at it, a DILD is a great way to get on your feet.

Anyway, again welcome to the forums! I hope you like it here! Always feel free to ask any questions you might have as we are a friendly bunch that will be more than willing to help.

As Gab mentioned, the Wiki is a good place to start. There is a lot of good material in there. You can also start a dream journal if you would like to share some (or all) of your dreams. It is fun to read other peoples dreams, see their progress, and be inspired by their success.

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. The Dream guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

The very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.
