a new face in the world of lucid dreaming

Hello, everyone. My name is Vivian Francesca Sapphire Holly Hawthorne. ( I know, my parents really overdid the naming thing. I discovered lucid dreaming last December. I did everything except the dream journal, which is probably why I have had only two. I forget that Im dreaming in five seconds. Anyhow... If any of you have some beginner tips I would really appreciate that. Thanks for checking out my post and have a great day. P.S. what is your favorite induction technique? must i really do the dream journaling ?

      Welcome!

Your dream journal is the most powerful tool you'll have throughout your journey - it is not required, but it will help you out tremendously. You can use it to identify dream signs and assist with improving your dream recall.

I siggest you go sign up for the DV DILD Class - there, you'll get a ton of help on your way to becoming a lucid dreamer.

      Best of luck to you!

Well, hello Vivian with the long name!

I'm glad you found us. Dream journaling is a really good idea, as DreamscapeGoat explained. Other than that, here are some links that can help you out:

      Welcome
      Induction techniques
      Intro class

My favourite technique is DEILD. It's where you teach yourself to lie absolutely still when you wake up from a dream, and then slide right into a new dream, but this time lucid. But there are many great techniques to choose from. When you have read up on them, you can pick one and start the intro class. You'll get lots of help and advice along the way.

      Welcome to DreamViews!

      I... Dont... DJ...
I think that it is important to DJ at first, to get a grasp on how you remember dreams and what makes you lucid. I have a link in my signature on how to DJ so that you are not just mindlessly writing down dreams and its purpose is to get you to a point that you dont need to DJ.

      My favorite technique.

It is good as a base. It is good as something to have as the least that you do to LD, because it is easy and will work if you give it time and it just gets better and better the longer that you do it.

      Thanks for your input

Thanks sibiline. I'll start using my journal. I'll try DEILD but if it has antyhing to do with sleep paralysis, it may not work on me. I've always been the sleewpalking, talking, and kicking type.

Most of us here at DV try to kill all talk of SP because it is not required in any way to LD. It is something that rarely happens that should not be a goal unless you are nmjust weird. Most people kill their chances of LDing by staying up all night trying to "enter SP" when the number 1 thing needed to LD is sleep!
