      hey im new here kinda

ok so i actually joined a few days ago but still
im ageofthunder im 16 years old
i dont remember how i got into lucid dreaming, but i did! i found this site about last week trying to look at some tips for good lucid dreaming and i found the FILD technique which isnt working but i have been feeling some weird sensations, but alas it hasnt worked and ive been trying since last friday (9/5/2014)
i try to begin lucid dream in 2011 and early 2012 but it never worked and i lost interest but over last summer of 2013 my friend got into it and it brought me back in so i tried it but after the summer ended we got consumed by school and had such little sleep we had to give up on it but about 2 weeks ago we both got back into it and we're going to kick it into full gear this summer.
i tried WILD once which almost worked but then it didnt, i want to do a dream journal but im afraid my parents will read it (i got nothing to hide but its still personal...) and i keep forgetting to RC during the day. i also tried to FILD many times these past weeks and it only almost works. also binaural beats have had little effect on me and my friend.

      wish us luck!

Hey, Welcome to DV! keep up with FILD and other techniques you find that work for you, also keep a dream journal here on the forum! That way it's a little more private than having it lying around.
other than that, good luck! See ya!

When you just starting out, technique is important. It will prepare you mentally for what to expect and what to do. Fild may sound like an easy and quick technique. But so does WILD, DILD and MILD. I hate to say it though, that none of them will work without doing our homework. Reading tutorials and then lots of practicing and lots of attempts. You may get lucid on your first or 50th attempt, but you will get lucid, if you prepare yourself.

I would recommend starting with DILD and then WILD, before switching to any offshoot of a technique, like is FILD. Let us know if we can help with anything. Happy dreams

thanks for the advice. I've been getting slightly better at remembering to RC. every night i believe i can do it and when it doesnt work i dont let it bother me in the slightest. WILD kind of annoyed me because it took a long time to get to SP and i'd end up falling asleep, that annoyed me because all the time it took but FILD doesnt because it takes like 30 sec to try. I think this weekend I will try WILD again. Im not afraid of SP, because as a child my father told me I would get it, and he said its not scary if you know what it is. I've counted at least 7 experiences with it and the scariest one was when I had watched a scary movie and I went to bed and woke up and I couldn't move and it was super cold in the room. I didn't see or hear anything scary though. The rest was just annoying because I wanted to move but I couldn't, I never saw or heard anything in SP.

RCs - in order to "remember" doing them in a dream, we need to practice them in waking life. And using lots of emotions when RCing. And lots of awareness. Then this awareness will start happening in regular dreams and that will give us an urge to RC.

SP is not part of LDing process. Here is a quote from here http://www.dreamviews.com/introducti...ml#post2100399

We are in SP, or more correctly called REM atonia every night, numerous time, every time we dream. It paralyzes our body, so we don't act out our dreams and get hurt or hurt those around us. We don't get SP before we start dreaming, because it would be dangerous not being able to move while still awake.

The sensations are simply normal sensations that we may experience as we watch our body falling asleep. Body relaxes and shuts down and all kinds of crazy sensations may happen. They happen every time, but we notice them only when we are WILDing and paying attention to the falling asleep proces.

So SP is not a goal, since it's involuntary action. It will happen by itself.

The sensations however may be kind of a mile marker that tell us where we are. Also hypnogogic hallucinations - HH. They are best observed calmly and passively. Which is easier said than done, because they are so exciting.

I would not start with FILD, as I think I have already mentioned. Good luck and ask anything.
