      Keeping still during WILD

So I've read a couple different things when trying to attempt WILD.
One says that I should lay completely still on my back until I hit SP while another says that I can switch positions every now and then.

Recently I've been trying to attempt WILD by laying down on my back. I get to the point where my body sort of 'feels like one'. I can't distinguish which way my hands are facing or what they're touching. Sort of a numbness. (I assume that's usual) but then I lay there for like an hour (I do have some relaxing music on) and nothing happens. I feel really awake in my mind, so I don't know if that's a problem, but whatever.

      Any advice?

Well, if you aren't really comfy, then you won't fall asleep right? Try getting on a more comfortable position?

I get that each time I WILD, too.
I also sometimes get a feeling that I've become stiff, and if I don't move, my joints will lock. It can be overpowering and this causes me to move, coming out of whatever progress I've made so far. The best advice I can give is to keep still.

Depending on when you try WILDing, too, it will take longer. Coupling WILD with WBTB is easier and quicker than WILDing right when you get into bed for the night.

Try some relaxation exercises to loosen yourself up before attempting it, too. Maybe you're just not relaxed enough.

Stare into the backs of your eye lids, but as if you're looking off into the distance. Then let yourself fall asleep, while maintaining your focus. You may suddenly find yourself in the dream state, although it will mostly feel as if you're still laying there in total darkness. You'll know it's the dream state because it feel slightly different. Sounds may sound a little different. Wiggle your hands a little and see if you can break your dream hands and arms away from your physical body. Then imagine a rope dangling from the ceiling above you. You may not see anything, it will probably be pitch black but just reach for the rope and pull yourself up. Now you're standing in the dream, look around your dream room and then fly out the window! I'm three for three using this technique. (This is after staying awake for about 45 minutes reading about dreaming, and then laying mostly still on my side for about 30 minutes relaxing, breathing deep, and periodically staring off into the blackness.)

I second the "staring at the back of your eyelids" technique. It's really helpful. Try focusing your eyes so they're almost staring at something past your eyelids.

Wow okay. I'll definitely try that. It's probably the fact that I'm just not tired enough when I first get into bed. I don't know if I get too excited while I'm laying there and end up not falling asleep, but I at least feel pretty relaxed.
I'm just not sure when I'm actually in SP. I'll feel that numbness but I never get into the state where I can't move. Is that a necessary part of SP?
Maybe I just need to chill out and wait. I've only been at this for a few days, haha.

Oh, I just sent you a PM not realizing you answered here, haha. Thank you very much! I'll try it that way and see what happens.
