      Constantly trapped

Shortly after reading a few threads on these boards, I began having lucid dreams. My problem is with WILD's and being trapped in my room. When I have a WILD, I am always laying in my bed when I go lucid. I get up, and none of the lights work, obviously. The first time I was trapped, I remembered reading about thinking about a place I want to be, and when I opened a door, I would go there. I tried it with my bathroom door, but it was just my bathroom when I opened it. Another time I had a WILD, trapped again in my room, I went to my window to peek outside. It was bright, but it was also raining and the window was blurry from all the water. I wanted to jump through the window, but was scared that I would feel pain.

Last night, I had 2 WILD's, and was again trapped. However, this time I could walk freely through my apartment. The first WILD, I woke up naked. After walking around my apartment for a bit, I decided to walk out the front door. I picked up a shirt and as soon as the shirt was over my head, obstructing my view, I woke up. The next WILD I accidentally fell asleep with my covers slightly covering my face. When I was lucid, the covers were still covering my face, no matter how hard I tried to peel them off. Determined, I walked to the front door and stepped outside. A few seconds later, I was awake.

Every single WILD I have had, I've been trapped in my bedroom/apartment. Only twice has there been lights on; the rest were very dark. I have had DILDs where I was in much more control. In my DILDs, I can fly around or start a New Orleans style parade, or jump off balconies. The only problem is that DILD is much more harder for me than WILD, which are very easy for me.

Has anyone had experience with being trapped in a certain room? Every time I walk outside, I wake up. Also, when I want to crawl of a window, something in my head makes me afraid of leaving. I would really like to explore more, but I can't get control of my dreams when I WILD. Anyone have any tips? Thanks.

Well almost every of my WILDs started in my room. Sincerely I like that, it's a perfect departure point for adventure : ) After getting out of my bed and doing a RC i usually fly out by the window.

I picked up a shirt and as soon as the shirt was over my head, obstructing my view,t
IN a lucid dream try to not obstruct your view in any way - specially closing your eyes -. I can't explain why but that's a huge step to wake up immediately : |

Every time I walk outside, I wake up.
I think when you try to leave home your mind creates some sort of hesitation. So before leaving, think about the first thing you want to do. THen, totally secure of yourself leave home and do what you want to do. For example, you thought about pain, that's a big mistake. With that you created another hesitation. You don't feel pain in lucid dream, at most you can feel some funny itches. So, if you think about throwing out yourself from the window, do it!

btw can you describe your WILD technique briefly please?

This is strange because when I first started, it seemed like everything other than WILD did not work. WILD was the most sucessful technic. Everytime I would WBTB I would have a way to convincing false awakining. MILD and DILD just did not work. I would not become lucid.

Try visualizing what it is that you first want to see when you leave the frontdoor right before you WILD.
Wake up and when you are drifting back to sleep, really consentrate on something other than what usually happens when you WILD.
If this dosn't cause you to skip the room/apartment scene altogether than maybe you can be a little more prepared for what it is YOU want to see as the dreamer when you open that door. I also found it useful in some cases to do things out of the ordinary once you become lucid. For instants, instead of crawling out of bed like you normally do, busrt out of bed, moonwalk to the bathroom and walk down the stairs like a crab just for examples. These strange things actully do help. I once went a long time dreaming and everytime I would see a door, instead to just open it I would kick it down, just for fun. At some point weeks later I found that in my waking life I was having the urge to kick down doors every time I saw them. It made me chuckle inside. Hope it helps!

Everyone is different and different techniques work for different people. I find WILD much harder than other techniques.
