My dad is fucking impossible to talk to without him giving me a no-holds-barred lecture. I was driving last week with him in the car with me and he said that we had to be somewhere very soon, so I was driving a bit faster than normal - he didn't say anything but I got a ticket for speeding. When we got home I went right to my room, thoroughly embarrassed, and I didn't want to talk to him. I said that I'd talk later once I was feeling more up to it, but he took this as a "screw off" and opened the door to my bedroom, taking my laptop for four days. He also didn't drive me to bowling and an open house at my school, which I had to attend or else I would've lost my school council position. His excuse was the same as always - "I'm preparing you for the real world where if your boss or another 'authoritarian figure' wants to talk, you have to talk to them right away". Problem is, I'm not super-social or anything so my dad always knows where to jab at me, which I'm partly scared of him doing.

I just got my laptop back and I talked to him, but he did the same thing. "Real world bullshit". I hate this.

I can see where he's coming from, but that does seem a bit harsh.... Especially about the school council thing, he's not helping you in any way by not taking you to that, I'd say it's even hurting a bit. That's the kind of thing you can list on a resume or the like that looks pretty good. Just keep in mind that he is trying to help you though, even if he seems like kind of a hard ass.

But that still sucks, I'm sorry.

Oh that stinks puffin. I think a good parent should be somewhere between what your dad is doing, and being too pampering (like my mom was).

But your dad is definitely in the extreme. Makes me wonder what his parents were like.

It's so obviously a self-perpetuating thing. The only reason that *some* of the "real world" (see: fabricated section of the world) is like that is because
people make it that way.

Just found a Horticulture Apprenticeship ad in the local paper. It's at this incredible Japanese mountain resort.
It says "Would suit junior, junior wages apply".
But I decide to ring up anyway, coz I don't care about the money atm.
She said they already have someone trying out, *FUUUUUUUU*, but she took my details anyway
and said she would give them to the landscaper. But the thing is my phone has horrible reception or the microphone is just shit or something
and I had to repeat myself like 3 times for my name and phone number. Just hope she got the correct number.

South Park. XD Nah, your gender identity and sexual orientation are two separate things. Whether you like men or women has nothing to do with whether you identify as a man or a woman, so you can have any combination of the two. Plus, ya know, things like being bi, all that jazz.

Slightly related to the ninja thing. My CS teacher is an asshole. He basically threatened to keylog the PCs of all of the students in the class, and explained how he'd do it. Then he proudly admitted to all of us that he steals internet from his neighbors by cracking their passwords. Even though it's like he runs a boot-camp, I feel strangely motivated to learn about all of it now in a way I haven't been since high school.

I have been learning violin. It doesn't sound quite as bad as I imagined. I got an okay sound out of it pretty much the first time I tried. My love of the instrument continues to increase.

I didn't satisfy my desire to get drunk nearly enough last night. I couldn't get anywhere near buzzed with the cider. So I'm going to try again tonight.

I'm glad you're enjoying your violin! Like how far into are you? Are you still getting used to the basics or have you really tried playing any songs yet? (Even simpler ones, of course.)

EDIT: Oh yeah, and during the State of the Union, the President (who claims to dislike war) said ALL options are on the table to prevent Iran from getting a nuke, even war. Even war. And Congress applauded that. All of them, "conservatives" and "liberals."

I realize he's trying to help, but he goes on in such a way that makes it seem like however I try to argue against him being so harsh, my arguments are invalid. He says things like "I was exactly like you at your age" and I ask, like what... And he says "I was always angry with people when they made me do things I didn't want to do". He kinda misses the point when he says that; I'm not angry, I just don't like talking to him. I mean, he does admit that sometimes he can be a hardass but it doesn't really help. =/

And now another small awesome rant from my day week...

My best friend keeps saying not-so-pleasant things about my boyfriend. Before I go any further, he's not the biggest guy; he's like 5.5", maybe 5.6"... And he's very fit, just not one of those 'typical', more beefy teen guys. But not skinny or gross at all. So anyways, my friend says things like "tell him to eat more" when we're out places, and I can tell he's embarrassed, but she just doesn't really stop saying those things. Last week she made the comment "tell him not to wear tighter shirts because I am scarred for life" and she kept saying how she could see his bones under his shirt. -_- He is nowhere near that slim.

Then, "I don't like his personality". He's playful, funny and not too outspoken like my friend. And her boyfriend? I met him once and all he did was say "hey"... Didn't even look up from his phone or try to engage in conversation.

I love my friend to pieces but I just can't stand this stuff... I feel a bit defensive but her comments are just bothering me a lot. I really have to talk to her about it because my BF seems quieter around her now.
