I have 2 pairs of headphones, one that came with my iPod, and one that came with my iPad. I had no idea where the ones for my iPad went, so I happily used my iPod headphones for both. But recently I lost my iPod headphones, and this weekend I noticed that my brother had my ipad headphones, the ones I haven't seen for months. I really need them so I can listen to my music in peace (since my family doesn't get my music in general, another story for another time >_>). My brother said that my mom gave them to him. How can she just give away my stuff!? Then I told her over the phone that I KNEW they were mine since they had the volume knob on the wire, but she still thinks my brother should keep them since she gave it to him. But they weren't even his to begin with! Now I have no headphones and can't listen to my music or play rhythm games or watch videos.

It's showing on HBO Comedy and HBO Family Channel, alternating times, perhaps as many as 10 times (between the two channels) between March 25th and March 31st.

My poor stomach won't stop making not-fun-sounding noises. :C Shouldn't have gotten drunk in the middle of the day and then ate so much greasy food....

I find that taking a nap after a good mid-day drunk is very helpful.

I definitely should've done that. I even smoked a little weed so it was totally within my capacity. Oh well, I probably won't be staying up much longer from now.

What I ate, it's hard to even find the right pronunciation for it. It's basically balled-up Dahl pieces you fry on some oil. Really good with some sauce that has Relish, pepper, some mustard, a little honey, and bunch of other stuff I can't remember.

^ I always hated "sobering up" while awake. To me, I never seem to fully recover without some rest. This why I pretty much never smoked/drank during the day.

Smoking I don't mind at all, especially because I never really have any desire to "recover" from being high. Drinking is starting to wear on me, though. I used to start drinking in the morning/early afternoons a lot and it wouldn't bother me, but lately I get hit with lots of side effects from it.

Hmm. See, I would smoke every day but I never liked smoking twice (or more) in one day. After the first time, the following sessions never seemed to do much for me. Without some rest and a full "recovery," I don't really enjoy smoking, I guess.

Granted, I no longer smoke nor drink heavily.

Ah. Yeah, I was the smoke-all-day-every-day-type of stoner. The first time of the day was still the most intense, but I could definitely still get something out of it throughout the day. Plus, I like the feeling I get with smoking myself to sleep and then continuing to smoke the second I wake up, it's kind of like the high continues (plus, ya know, wake 'n' bakes rock) but it still has that first-of-the-day refreshing feeling. I smoked a lot of weed though. I was the kind of stoner that would get bored because I had no one to chill with and decide to take out ten or eleven blunts in an hour for the hell of it. I no longer smoke or drink heavily, either. In fact, I can't even really take more than a couple hits of weed at a time without anxiety right now, but that has to do with how much I used deliriants, not anything directly from weed.

I actually never "wake-and-baked." I usually smoked towards the end of my day. I only enjoyed smoking by myself... I hate being high around other people (unless they're also stoned, but even then I prefer being a loner stoner). Guess that's a little weird, but yea. So smoking before school/work never interested me.

Speaking of ranting/crying/complaining... I'm a tad disappointed in myself. I wanted to get my apartment completely cleaned up today. Instead, I did about 50% of the work and then planted my ass on the couch. But, I suppose 50% is better than 0%.

I normally smoke all day long when I'm smoking.

And shame on you sefalik for working a job where they can drug test you. The whole reason that we can't get a job that won't drug test us is because people will take jobs that require drug tests.

If everybody just told them to fuck off then they wouldn't be able to hire anybody and they'd have to cave in. Same for minimum wage.

All it takes is a little solidarity.

I smoked while I worked here. They drug test you when you're hired. First 90 days of employment, you're supposed to get three random piss test (I think I only got one). But after that, you're golden. Well, if you get injured on the job the test you... and if you're a material handler and drop something, you'll get tested. Otherwise, I haven't been "randomly" checked in the four years I've been here. An honestly... $40k++++ a year (for a 22-year-old)? I'll take it.

I stopped smoking because I didn't like how it affected me, not because of my job.

I used to enjoy being high around people, but these days I mostly prefer it by myself, and not just because of the anxiety. (Actually, the anxiety makes me want to be around other people more than anything, at least people that I know well and trust.) Somewhere down the line I stopped seeing weed as a way to relax and started seeing it as a hallucinogen. Maybe it was just too much research into the way it works, too many ridiculous high doses, and too much synthetic cannabinoid use, but these days I feel I have to respect it, and looking for these different effects in it has totally changed my perspective. Since I practically never smoke it anymore, whenever I actually do I can notice powerful psychedelic-like changes in sensory perception (obviously not full on hallucinations, but stuff like widening and intensifying of senses), and in really high amounts (like actually hallucinogenic doses) it starts to become something reminiscent of mixing ketamine and salvia, but with sort of a delirious psychedelicy twist. I find it hard to see it the same way as before anymore.

It would take more than "a little solidarity" to get that to happen.

I don't think every job needs a drug test, but there are a few where I definitely wouldn't want someone using before performing their duties.

I remember I had an accident once, on-the-job, and I ripped all the ligaments off my left ankle. I couldn't walk, and was in miserable pain, and as soon as I got my crutches I had to pee in a cup. Totally sucked, it's never easy to pee while holding a cup down there when you're in pain.

Come to think of it, out of four on-the-job accidents, I only did not have to take a test following one of them, and maybe it's because another employee caused the accident which injured me. Ugh, and the worst part of that was after lying around for three hours I had to drive myself to the hospital and limp in to the emergency room.

Yea. I work in a factory. You SHOULD NOT be working here if your under the influence. You WILL get hurt if you aren't alert and sober. Granted, the problem with most tests for marijuana is that it will detect if you smoked it within the last month(s) rather than the last few hours... while smoking before working here is bad, I don't see harm in smoking after work so long as you're sober the next day. But a standard drug test doesn't see that difference. If you've smoked within the last 30 days or more, you'll fail the test. I think if anything, a different way to test should be used. If you drink before right before a drug test, you'll fail. But if you drink the weekend before a drug test, you'll be fine. I think this should be the same for marijuana.

What would they do if every worker in the US just decided to quit going to any job that required a drug test whether they were users or not? That's all I'm asking for.

They would hire Hispanics, at a tenth of the cost.

I don't condone this or believe in it, but around here it would totally happen.

Eh, probably 50% of the people I work with are hispanic (I'm white, for the reference)...

I understand your point though. But, there are always going to be people out there who don't smoke/aren't interested in smoking (myself included). I'd rather not turn down an excellent job with ridiculously good benefits and room for advancement just because they test for drug usage. And besides, as I said, I smoked while working here. Taking a 90-day break isn't that long. I don't agree with this, but the problem isn't the fact that drug screening is done, but rather THE WAY it is done. We need a way to test to see if someone is UNDER THE INFLUENCE of marijuana, as opposed to testing to see if they've smoked within the last 3 months...

Islamophobia really upsets me, as does anti-Semitism. I didn't know how many people were really Islamophobic until today...

It's scary to think about... I feel awful for my friend, kids jokingly call her a terrorist, and even though it's a joke it's a horrible thing to even consider!

*sigh* but you can't educate a bigot out of bigotry; bigotry comes from emotion, not ignorance.

I disagree for the simple reason that if they could do that then they would already have done it. Businesses are not in the habit of wasting money on labor when there is a cheaper alternative. Most people fail to realize how cut-throat capitalism is.

There is always a cheaper alternative, and if the situation was as widespread as you envision, hiring of scab workers would become rampant, even if it meant hiring underskilled or illegal workers.

Hell, if it wasn't for "cheaper alternatives", so many things wouldn't happen in this country, let alone the rest of the world.

It's weird driving through the west side of town and seeing the green trucks with the agents dressed in green raiding a home improvement or construction project and seeing the people running and ducking behind bushes. Sad.

I don't think companies here in the states lower the wages for hispanic employees... instead, I think hispanic people in general are just more willing to do jobs other people wouldn't consider, such as working on a line in a factory (which is what I did, prior to my promotion to "quality auditor").
