Sometimes I wish I was a plant. Being human is to hard and complicated.

Yet, we live for tens and tens of years. Enough time to create relationships, to attain rediculous amounts of knowledge. Enough time to explore a considerable amount of this planet. Life is remarrkable, and worth taking seriously.

It's funny (not haha funny) that I found this thread today. I got a call from my mom today, my stepfather died yesterday.
Taking life seriously just causes you to not enjoy it. Fact.

I agree with what you said, if I wrote the same thing the conclusion I would draw is to NOT take life so seriously.
Because it is too great to take seriously.

But you take plenty of stuff seriously. You personally seem to take political injustice and police brutality very seriously, for instance.

Life requires you to take certain things seriously, or else you don't live, at least to your potential.

Guys, of course you have to take life seriously, otherwise you'll spoil the fun. But if you actually take it for real seriously, it won't be any fun either. You have to be serious, even though you're not serious at all.

Let me put it another way. You have to approach situations completely seriously, in order to really experience them. Then, at the same time, overarching this is the fact that life is not in any way serious. You just play the game because it's what you're here to do. It's sort of like immersing yourself in a video game (or a LUCID DREAM, perhaps?) even though you know it's only real while it lasts.

I agree supernova, seriousness only pertains to the personal life/ lives of humanity. Looking at the cosmos as a whole, which we're only a fleeting part of, seriousness fails to have meaning. It's always good to keep in touch with the "just-isness" of our existence.

About this whole We're Insignificant/We're Important thing - it didn't even become an issue until science created ways to artificially enhance our vision, allowing us to peer into the microscopic and the macroscopic.

And yeah, seeing those bizarre worlds that look so surreal and alien does tend to make us feel tiny and cold, or like we're made of teeming microorganisms and electrons, but so what? All we can ever see of those worlds are photographs and movies and glimpses through the viewfinders of vision-enhancing devices. As soon as we pull our heads out and look around again, guess what?

We're people. And we live in a world of people. And everything we build, we build for people. We live at the scale of people. These other strange universes we can peer into still exist, sure, but they affect us only peripherally and only when we're looking at them/thinking about them.

I would have considered linking this, but I can't quite tell if it's sarcasm or not. But the words do ring true.

I think of Dark as the cool grandpa I never had. But we're not related or close in any way so that makes it kinda weird I guess. =P

lol what's with all the pseudo-family relationships people keep bringing up on DV?

My online alias used to be dark_angel6 on Starcraft for years, and I still feel weird calling someone else dark.

it's not pseudo. DV is a big family. In some cases incestuous.
