      Best female voices

I want to hear a nice female voice. A video of singing would be good, but even just talking would be fine. No, I'm not a pervert. And no, this has nothing to do with valentines day.

      Soulstice- wind
Bitter:Sweet- mating game (they have a swanky vegas style jazz behind a lof of their music...I'd check out a their originals and remixs)
Psapp-infrared, cosy in the rocket, monster song, etc (love this dynamic duo...they're production is sublime)
Corine Baily Ray- most anything but I'm partial to choux pastry heart. The way she pronounces her words down to when she takes breaths.....
The Bird and the Bee- Polite Dance Song
      Emiliana Torrini- Ha Ha
Jem- I want you and Down to Earth
Grisbi- Army of Me (don't like most anything else by her/them but I love this version of the song)
The Submarines- 1940 (orginal and amplive remix)
      Natalie imbruglia- Leave Me Alone
And For your oldschool tastes...Billie Holiday....anything...she's wonderful and is one of the few original people who had a unique voice.

Edit: Jefferson Airplane-White rabbit (one of my all time favorite songs)

Double Edit: I also like Lilly Allen's voice....but the songs in general.....something just doesn't come off right....it's like the production doesn't match up with the lyrics or maybe the bgm just doesn't sound good at all. Also don't forget Eryka Badu and Lauryn Hill they're pretty mainstream....so you probably already know about them two.

If you've kept up with the links I tend to post in chat, you'll already know I love those light soft voices...to the point where a lot of the stuff I listen to sounds the same.

Cool deal. I am an absolute fanatic. She is my favorite musical act, tied with the Beatles. I'll post more stuff from her later. I am trying not to go too nuts with this thread topic. I love Court and Spark too, particularly "Free Man in Paris," "Just Like This Train," and "Trouble Child."

Yeah I love Joni Mitchell too. She's brilliant.
I think PJ Harvey is bad ass but I'm not that crazy about her voice. Oh and I used to absolutely love Bjork but not so much anymore... That satisfaction cover by them two is amazing though.

Strange how little women I listen to, I was browsing through my music and it's almost all men..

Something interesting about Jefferson Airplane is that they had three lead singers (well, four if you count the original female lead singer who was replaced by Grace Slick), but only Grace sang lead vocals on their two most popular songs. There were two male lead singers in the band, and they sang about as much as Grace did, but they aren't anywhere near as famous as she is. The songs they sang were great too, and a lot of the band's best songs had all three of them singing interchangeably, in harmony, and with different lyrics at the same time. I didn't post any of those because I didn't think they were quite right for this thread.
