What are we asking about, anyway?

It sounds like something I want to pester the staff about, too.

The last couple of days I've been unhealthily obsessed with dreamviews. I bet I even know who that banned guy was.

      Someone shoot me!

My current obsession is preparing for my dog's neuter that is scheduled for next week.

He is monorchid (meaning only one testicle dropped) so we'll have to go searching for the missing one in his abdomen. So it's not just a routine neuter. I was going to have it done at a dog/cat clinic by my house where I did my veterinary internship, but I long story short, I don't trust those bastards anymore so my boss at my work (cat-only clinic) said it was ok for me to bring him to my work on a quiet morning and do it there. I'm having a special surgeon come in to do the surgery, but I will be doing all the anesthesia and monitoring on him. I'm a little nervous since it's been about 3 years since I've done anesthesia on a dog, so I've been going back through all my vet school notes to refresh myself.

But I'm really relieved that I will be in charge of the surgery myself instead of having it done by people I don't trust. At least I can be responsible for my own animal and not have to sit at home and worry about what's happening to him.

I took the day of surgery and the next day off work so I can closely monitor his recovery. I can't wait til this is over and I don't have to obsess about it anymore!

Can I say I'm impressed? Woo for a DV member legally allowed to cut animals open 'n' stuff.

Awh Burnsy...I don't think he could be in any better hands than the ones that love him most. You shouldn't let yourself worry about it too much, though I realize easier said than done.

Thanks, Nina That means a lot. I know it'll be fine, I'm just being an obsessively worried mom about it. It's a good thing I can be responsible for my pets medical care or I would be one of those high-maintenence clients who vets dread to see...

      No I don't.

Good luck, and I hope everything goes well, Burns. I sat in on a few cat neuterings at my local vets office a few years ago. It's actually almost cool, if you don't think about the fact that the poor animals are being emasculated forever... But then, it's a bit different for a guy. Anyway, he's in good hands. I trust you won't let anything go wrong.

I really hope everything works out Burns.

I need to get to get my rabbit spayed soon, and so far haven't found a vet that I can trust, I'm pretty paranoid. O_O I know how you feel about the whole neutering process though.

But may everything work out for Red!

aw thanks, Xox I know how you feel about being nervous for the neuter - even though it's probably the simplest surgery there is, it doesn't make it any less stressful for a worried owner! Good luck finding a vet you can trust. It's so important to know your baby is in good hands.

      Hydra. The aquatic pest kind.

Darn Betta splendens! Aren't you in the same family as the gourami? Then why don't you eat those stinkin' venomous freshwater polyps for me? ARRRRGH!

Nightwish in general, the song Amaranth in particular.

I actually dreamed that Nightwish was playing in the background at a mall in a dream last night. I even recognized the song Sahara.

Oh man, me too! I've been listening to the album Dark Passion Play like crazy ever since I was told about them recently. I like Amaranth a lot. The songs 7 days to the wolves and Last of the Wilds are sweet as well. Also Meadows of Heaven is quite awe-inspiring.

      *Must acquire said songs!*

For the Heart I Once Had is great, too. But yesterday I had Amaranth set to repeat on my MP3 player all day, pretty much. I had to do some roof patching, and man, the time just flew with that song playing. Overall I don't think I like Nightwish quite as much as Within Temptation, as I have yet to find a song by Within Temptation that I don't like and there are a couple Nightwish songs that just aren't my thing, but dang, they're still great! Besides, Within Temptation is kind of my insurpassable standard these days.

Check out A Final Dream and Phantom of the Opera too, if you haven't already. They're performed by the original lead singer, from before the new girl joined the band. Her voice is very different.
