Thanks Abra and Mario this is the topic i wanted to discuss. We have had the means to live co-existentially with the planet, instead money and profit is driving the human race into a dark ages.

@ Carou, sorry! sheesh i was half passed out and wanted to toss in my thoughts before i fell asleep. What i was stating was that in my current situation i'm not so sure i'd be able to survive if it came to a real dog eat dog world, now mind you i would fight to the death, find a vehicle, which i don't have currently, raid a gun store and an army surplus store. I have a couple more in mind. But all in all it'd be me and my son fighting off raiders, muggers, murderers, and just stupid people... It would suck ass. The truth of the matter is that it's very well possible, it has happened in history many times, civilizations fall, and it's a very real possibility simply because so many factors are going to be acting against us all at once.

My guess is most people in America would die. There'd be a few people who aren't the "typical American" (i.e fat, lazy, entirely dependent on consumerism culture). But a shitload would just die of hunger waiting in the mcdonalds drive through.
Probably a lot of people in third world countries would die. Because they have no means to protect themselves from extreme weather. So basically everyone in 1st world countries who doesn't fight big oil and force the governments to implement green technology etc. would be responsible for the death of billions.

IMO we're fucked. There's no way, judging by today's political climate, that things are gonna change any time soon. I mean we only have around 5-10 years to turn this around or we're basically fucked. And we all know that nothing ever works that quickly in politics. Short of blocking out the sun a la Mr. Burns style, over the ice caps. But the environment will still be screwed everywhere else from so much c02, methane etc. Oh yeah the ice caps also contain c02 and methane in large amounts, so that's what contributes to the chain reaction as well, forgot to mention that before.

It's a good solution. Convert everything to Hemp. It cleans the environment while providing fuel and clothes and food etc.
Does anyone actually know why Cannabis shows up red on police infrared cameras? It's because it has the fastest metabolism/growth of any plant, producing heat (no not enough to warm the planet lol, it's in the infrared spectrum, it's just hot for plants). Which is why it's perfect to clean up the environment, it's fast metabolism means it eats more c02 than any other plant we know of.

Hmm...I think trees are actually better at trapping and storing CO2 than hemp...but whatever, we're all fucked anyway.

Do you know how tall a Cannabis plant can grow if just grown for hemp? it can get pretty F'ing huge! Some strains can grow up to 22 feet tall, they actually are trees if i'm not mistaken, or dwarf trees, and they have crazy metabolisms, like Tommo said, higher than most any other plant

Bamboo, too, is supposed to be fantastic at absorbing CO2...

And really, a hemp forest? I think people would smoke it to the ground first...

Nope. It's a scientific fact that they aren't. All trees grow MUCH slower than Hemp.

Yes Bamboo is good too, and grows very fast with little water or pesticides etc., like Hemp. But it can only be used for clothes and rope etc and not food.

I'm not going to discuss (drug) Cannabis any further in this thread, only Hemp (industrial Cannabis with very high levels of CBD (which actually stops you from getting high, it blocks THC in the Cannabinoid receptors)).

Memento is right too, it can grow huge. As tall as most trees and you can fit 4 times as much Hemp in to a given space as trees. And the trees we grow currently in our society are only used for wood.

Another topic brought up in the video is disease. Once there is floods etc. and many many people as well as billions more insects because of warmer climates, it basically becomes a breeding ground for disease. Diseases will also mutate more rapidly because of this.

my plans revolve around avoiding the cities actually, I plan on heading up into the mountains. Probably Montana

Hemp is grown for stalk. Marijuanna is grown for leaves. If you tried hiding marijuanna in your hemp fields, you'd end up with shitty marijuanna that'd be obvious to spot (either that, or shitty marijuanna that is low-yield)
Hemp produced chemicals that inhibit cannaboids. Try smoking hemp, and you will get a headache.

Now, does anyone know why we don't produce hemp? 'Cause in WWII, we did. My prof for environment class said it was for economic reasons, that is, to keep the existing wood paper industry at the top of the chain. The paper industry pays for lobbyists against hemp, etc. Of course, I don't want to be an environmentalist biggot. I'd much rather be a well-informed environmentalist biggot. So if you guys know of good reasons why we're not using hemp (or ag waste, or other fibrous weeds for that matter) for paper, let me know.
