Had a lucid dream... inside my regular dream?

So some inception type stuff happened last night...

I had a dream, and I managed to let myself know I was having a lucid dream... as soon as I knew, i whipped my D out, and walked up to some chick who was sitting down inside a Wal mart i believe... and well you know..

Then i woke up.. or atleast i thought i did, and went up to the computer and was using it or something.. and i thought i was awake.. then i woke up in the morning.. computer untouched...

Too weird, was like a dream inside a dream.

It's very possible to have a non-lucid dream where you fall asleep, then in the next dream you either become lucid (a "DILD"), or are lucid from the get-go because you were "WILDing" in the previous dream. I've had both occur, and only realized the previous dream wasn't real life until I actually woke up.

Technically, you can't go 'deeper' into dreams; there are no layers, just one linear system where if one dream ends, another totally new one will begin.

      Staying Lucid
^ This section of the introduction on the front page of the site introduces you to the concept of a False Awakening (FA). These are generally pretty common, and infact I had a string of 4 false awakenings in a row just this morning.

I recommend giving the entire introduction a read, and also reading Puffin's (yes that one right there ^) Beginner's Guide to Lucid Dreaming.

We really need a whole forum section dedicated to telling people about 'dreams inside dreams'

A false awakening (FA) is just a dream where you wake up in your own bed, and maybe even get up to do your morning routines. False awakenings can be tricky to catch because they can often be realistic, plus you usually think you've woken up for real (which obviously isn't the case). Occasionally when you become lucid and wake up from excitement, you could enter a FA. They're also common when you succeed in a WILD attempt, which is why it's important to always question whether you're awake or asleep when you're getting up in the morning, and going to bed at night.

Yea, I've been in a nonlucid before then decided to try to WILD and gone into a lucid inside the nonlucid. It's weird when you do wake up and realize what you just did..
