What do you think about this method? + an SP question.

Hi, I have only had 1 very controlled lucid dream since I became interested in this (I am not disappointed in this statistic). But I have been having a dry spell, and I have one goal I would really like to achieve in a lucid. That is to meet my favorite singer/band, and ask them DG type questions. So last night I came up with the idea of making a playlist of their music, so I can start it when i briefly wake up in the middle of the night (naturally). My theory is that hearing them in the dream (has happened to me with my ipod before) will make the chances of them being in the dream higher, hopefully making me become lucid.

And I also have a question about SP. Am I allowed to swallow when trying to enter? Because every time I try, I always end up spontaneously swallowing, out of no where, and i cant help it.

I will post the results of my little experiment here.

the method seems good I think it will work if you visualize or something. Don't swallow but ykw (you know what) I just fall asleep. I haven't been able to hit SP purposely yet.

Go ahead and swallow. Be done with it and carry on, if you don't you will just think about it and ruin your attempts.

I think it is the disruption that we ourself cause when swallowing that ruins the experience, but I have had no effect from it.

Yes you can swallow, just dont think about it too much, just do it.

That is to meet my favorite singer/band, and ask them DG type questions
Are you hoping your favorite singer is your DG? lol

Yeah I am hoping my favorite singer is my DG! Haha. I believe you can choose your DG if it is someone you look up to, because they are similar. But anyway, I tried this last night and I am pleased with my results being it was the first try. I naturally woke up at around 3:00 AM, put in the headphones and turned on the playlist (quite loud too). From there on out, 4 of the 5 dreams I remember had to do with this band! I wasn't lucid in any of them, 2 of them directly involved the band, but not clearly. And the other 2 involved me listening to them on my ipod in the dream. Either way I found the results interesting, musical dreams!!! I will post a link to the DJ of them later for anyone who is interested.

Ok here is the DJ entry for those interested. http://www.dreamviews.org/blogs/hass...-dreams-30583/

I will try this again tonight and will maybe get better results!

That is perfect! just try to associate their music with RCs and awareness throughout the day.

Multiple times I tried finding my DG by knowing they would appear behind me. I would hear a voice over my shoulder or a see a beam of light before finally turning around. It worked a bunch of times but it was mostly different people saying incoherent things. Maybe for you, he will sing advice! That would be sweet. You'd have to remember the song when you woke up.

Dreams may be influenced at a certain extent by external sensory input. So that idea seems really good. Keep updating us in case anything more happens

There are many apps out there that can help you with this like custom timed alarms which will play the song you want and turn it off after a certain amount of time - or even ones for iPhones which detect when you're dreaming!

In terms of your swallowing question - it's quite common for you to have to swallow, and it's a natural reflex of the body. Just let it happen! If you relax and don't worry about it swallowing will not hinder your progress through the WILD process or SP

I tried again last night and got a good result, still no lucidity though! I'm just going to keep trying it for a while. Lucid or not, I've liked these musical dreams! Although it was pretty disappointing to wake up from last nights dream (only for a few minutes).

Here's last nights result for those interested. March 8, 2012. Using the same playlist than on March 6, 2012. - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

So I tried again and I become lucid. I don't know if it how much of it was because of the music. I became lucid when I wanted to listen to music, but realized I had left my ipod at home. I spent the whole lucid dream trying to climb out my window and looking for The Killers. My only success being climbing out the window!
