      Taking the next step

So, I've told a little backstory about myself and my early lucid experiences in my previous thread here: http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/introd...iences-123361/

      What next?

I have recently noticed that Wake Back To Bed seems to lead to lucid dreams quite effectively, even though I haven't done it intentionally yet, just happened to wake up early last couple of mornings and continued sleeping. This made me have multiple short lucid dreams (which were pretty unstable and little blurry though) and I was even able to continue my lucidity right after a false awakening, so I think my ability to spot dream signs has started to improve.

My dream recall has always been pretty good, and the next big thing would be learning to stabilize dreams more effectively and thus making them last longer (which has improved a little bit too)

However my biggest obsticles at this point are:

      1. My highly irregular sleeping schedule

My bedtime can vary dramatically, one day i might fall asleep at 11pm and the next day at 3am, and it doesn't seem to matter whether I have woken up early or late that morning. This makes it kinda hard to plan ahead when attempting WBTB and WILD and such stuff.

      2. I still live with my parents ( hopefully I'll get an own apartment soon ) and I'm usually the last one to wake up. And when everyone else is up making noise during those last hours of sleep, it makes my dreams much more fragile since I wake up from external sounds very easily.

      3. I'm going in the army in two weeks () So that might mess up my dreaming for at least the next 180 days. ALTHOUGH all that routine and early wake-ups might provide at least a temporary solution to the problem number one.

Nonetheless I'm gonna try WBTB this night and see what comes out of it, wish me luck!

I would normally say your weird schedule is perfect for lucid dreaming. I got my best LDs with an erratic sleep schedule like yours and lots of luck with WBTB.

There's no telling about the army. You might benefit from the exercise and regular schedule but it's unlikely you will have long in the morning to recall and contemplate your dreams. Hopefully the running will give you time to think about them.

Keep your head about you and don't worry about dreaming. It will always be there waiting for you.

Well the problem one wouldn't matter that much without the problem two..

I think the key is not to try too hard. I've always had them so nothing is keeping me from having them again. Just have to learn how to take more out of them.

      1. You don't really have to plan your WBTB. So irregular schedule is not an obstacle in this, in my opinion. Whenewer you wake up at night, look at the clock and by hours of sleep decide if it's worth doing WBTB or not.
      2. I feel your pain about noise when you trying to LD. You either have to learn to ignore it, use ear plugs, or go to bed sooner.
      4. Sleep deprivation may help you get some lucids. Not sure, how many hours of not sleeping will trow you into deep NREM and how many straight into REM. You may figure that one out in two week, since army is not so big on sleeping
      3. Good luck in the army and Happy dreams

Didn't have lucid dreams this night but the dreams themselves were pretty interesting

I don't remember all of it but at some point i got this small device, kind of like a keychain with a button on it, which allowed me to travel through time and in alternate dimensions. And, I don't remember if this was the same dream anymore, a lake narby us had flooded or something and covered much larger areas, and there was this bridge which was partially underwater and seemed to stretch to infinite lengths, which was kind of creepy. In that dream there was also a helicopter chasing me...

      1. My leep schedule is also irregular. As long as you get enough sleep on the night before you wake, for the WBTB. You should be fine.

      2. I sleep with a noisy partner who gets up regularly! It does interrupt sleep, but I got some cheap foam ear plugs, which are a HUGE help in blocking out noise.

      3. Early wake ups may interrupt your LDing, but a routine sleeping schedule can help.

      Hope I helped a little!

      Ooh, their breath is warm
      And they smell like sleep
And they say they take me home
      Like poppies heavy with seed
They take me deeper and deeper

Damn, almost just had my best and most vivid LD to date. Just almost.

I was in a bus with some people I didn't know. I don't quite remember where we were heading but everyone was acting slightly weird. After a while I started to notice this, and then realized i'm probably dreaming. However, just just the same time as i did the rc the whole dream turned kind of nightmarish and really uncomfortable and I heard a loud scream and whole place started shaking.

That threw me off and I landed in a false awakening. The next thing I know I was TELLING THAT LAST DREAM to my brother. I was wise enough to think that I might still be dreaming, so I did a bunch of reality checks (held my breath and tried to walk through a door and some others) but they all failed.

At this point I SHOULD HAVE made a memory check and started to pay more attention to my surroundings, but the dream was so vivid and realistic that I really had no reason to think it was a dream.
