      First success with WILD

Subject line says it all: Last night I took 50mg 5-HTP at bed time (11:00pm) and set my invisible clock to wake me at 4:15am. I ALMOST didn't get up from under the covers because it was cold in the bedroom and I was warm and comfy, but I shamed myself into dispensing 8mg of Galantamine and 250mg of choline and going to the bathroom for water so I could swallow them.

I then settled in for an attempt at a WILD and remarkably, had success! At this point my mind was reasonably awake, so it took a while to settle down. I first noted the onset of tinnitus, then got the classic vibrations (not unpleasant) and got excited that "it was happening" and you know what happens when >>THAT<< occurs. The process repeated two more times, and like they say, "the third time was the charm". Either I was just too tired to care, or literally got blase that I was finally slipping into a dream with my mind completely awake - not that I didn't care...it's more that the process was more familiar and less anxiety provoking the third time I went through the cycle. In any event, I got to watch some interesting hypnogogic hallucinations form and then found myself completely lucid throughout five dream scenes.

To recap each in one sentence: 1) romping on a firefly filled lawn with Roxy, our deceased female doberman; 2) a doctors office painted a deep vibrant blue during a minor surgical procedure with a small spider hanging from the ceiling that I tried to move away and in which I tried to conjure a nurse to come through the door with whom I could have sex (fail); 3) hide and seek as a child with my cousins looking for me with me hiding behind a door in my grandmother's brownstone in Brooklyn and noting some dirt and electrical cord from the location in which I was hiding; 4) a brief dream in which I was having sex with a girlfriend from over 30 years ago on the very couch we used to own back then, complete with scratchy black and white fabric. I couldn't hold this one very long but it was wonderful to see and hear her; 5) staring at a old document which looked a bit like the Declaration of Independence - which I couldn't read because the characters were arabic or hebrew and watching them MORPH right before my eyes repeatedly. There was even a point where a Notary stamp appeared and disappeared at the bottom! Believe it or not, I found this to be the most interesting of all. I was very entertained by the re-shuffling letters and appearance and disappearance of characters.

There were several other notable features w/r/t this experience. The transitions between dream scenes was, for the most part, a short interval of black or non-descript hypnagogic imagery - like a brown moon-shaped two dimensional blob, for example. One slightly disturbing black interval was accompanied by voices of a young person (seemingly a young teenager) which ordinarily I would find very anxiety provoking. I was so completely lucid that I was able to successfully remind myself that my REAL body was safe in bed and it became no concern. I was very proud of that moment because it allowed the lucid dreaming to continue!!! WooooHoo!!

Even though there were five scenes, I guess I only get to chalk this one up as one. So, lucid number six is WILD number 1!!!!

Awesome, DH! Many more of these to come, I'm sure. Sounds like it was a memorable night.

Thanks, ThreeCat. Since Thanksgiving is this week, I'm going to make it my goal to try and do a WILD on each night I don't have to go to work the next day. This is a technique I'd really like to practice and become good at. Funny how even the smallest taste of success fuels the desire for MORE of the same.
