      Question Nightmare immunity

      This is gonna sound weird, but I appear to be immune against nightmares. I still have nightmares (or rather, dreams with nightmare themes and events) but I'm not freaked out by them. Neither in the dream nor after waking up.

      I just wonder if there's something "different" about my brain chemistry that causes me not to be freaked out by some dreams.

      Or perhaps I've had too many nightmares as a child, and nothing can shock me anymore?

      My childhood nightmares were quite intense though.
      At about 7, I had a nightmare that some crazy surgeon wanted to surgically change my dad into a horse. And I could *see* it all happening.
      Then at 10-ish, I had one where I was in a museum of sorts, and this bald guy was being displayed. The information card read "He was pierced alive" and then I could SEE his head get pierced by two power drills, one from each side. All the while, this bald man's eyes were wide open and he was laughing hysterically/maniacally, while blood was streaming down his face.
      In my teens I had one where a robot was following me around (a really agile and fast robot) and the last thing I saw before waking up was its hand approaching my face slowly.

      Those are the only dreams I can really remember that REALLY freaked me out, so much so that I can still remember every detail to this day.
      Everything below that shock-level doesn't bother me.

      ..maybe I just have a very high shock-theshold..

      Those are some freaky-sounding nightmares! Mine were always lame; I think the only one that ever really freaked me out was when my two cats were turned into evil robot dogs. (I was 4 lol, don't judge!) I don't get nightmares much anymore, and when I do, I always become lucid and wake myself up.
      As for you, though, I guess you just don't get scared easily. That's probably a good thing; lucky you!

      Haha I sometimes think the nightmares made me immune to horror films as well. As a pre-teen I was terrified of anything to do with horror, I wanted fairies and ponies and dolphins, not skulls. ..now I'm a die-hard-core horror fan XD

      It's weird how relatively silly things in dreams can be so terrifying when you're in the dream, and when you wake up, sweating, you go ". .. ..wait. ..WHAT? XD" ..well, I do, anyway ^^;

      Yeah, I have become immune somewhat. I used to be really scared of the ring girl in highschool and she used to be in my nightmares all of the time. Now when I see her, she doesn't even scare me. Sometimes I even touch her, or swim in the pool with her, or jump in the mirror to try to catch her. Same with Chucky. I used to be terrified of him(I saw it when I was like 5. my parents sent me to bed and I never saw the end. The last scene I saw was a black man being murdered) , then I saw the movie as an adult and realized it was the stupidest thing ever. Now I am immune to Chucky dreams too. Seeing stupid horror movies seems to cure it.

      Strangely enough those Japanese horror films really don't scare me, I find them amusing, surely, but not scary. And Chucky, oh don't get me started XD I also saw it as a small child and.. ..let's just say my ginger-haired doll was banished to the closet forever XD her eyes didn't close, either, so she stared a me all night
