Well i think it's a general thing that people say most girls can do it... I know others too that can't... but it always seems like the majority does. Not sure how true it is actually.

The physical reactions (shaking and convultions and stuff) can last for a long time, maybe even a couple minutes if physical stimulation persists, but the actual 'good feeling' part of the orgasm where chemicals from heaven are released only lasts for a few seconds. And I might as well contribute to the other topic too. I used to never be able to get multiple orgasms, but for the last few years I've been able to. The first one is always the strongest though, and by the third it's so weak that there's pretty much no point to trying. I don't know how it works chemically, but it seems like there's a certain amount of good-feeling chemicals that are ready to be released, so if there's one big orgasm at first, I won't be able to get any others, and then my arousal completely vanishes so continuing to try is annoying or boring. But if it's smaller, I'll be able to work it up again in a couple minutes. Maybe some women are like me when i was younger, the orgasm is always so huge and all the chemicals or whatever are released at once. Perhaps when someone does it a lot, they become more capable of getting multiple ones.

I agree with that. Same for me.

I think some people just want to make it out to be something much bigger

That's the general idea. It's the same reason that ecstasy loses it's 'magic' very quickly with frequent doses that are too close together. Your brain only has so many of those chemicals to release stored up, and the closer together those releases get the fewer it'll have to work with. In addition, bursts of euphoria in quick succession rapidly builds up short-term desensitization of your receptors. That's why the first is always best, as long as it actually is good.

Yeah I thought it was based on the latter, depreciating returns.

But is there still pleasure during the spasms and muscle cramps? I'd imagine if the actual pleasure feeling persisted, it couldn't feel bad since 'pleasure' is by definition a good feeling.

I have to stop pleasuring myself to alleviate the muscle cramp....so a competition arises between pain and pleasure. Plus, I become over-sensitized.... and so that itself is 'painful' (not in a traditional sense, just uncomfortable). Think just after orgasm how sensitive your parts are if touched. So it's more like over stimulation. I get that if I try to finish too quickly. I could easily get it all over with in about 20 seconds if it weren't for that.
