Why do people look ugly when they cry?

      Crying is real.
It just seems to me that many people are just afraid of reality & feel uncomfortable or repulsed by it.

So, Why do people look ugly when they cry?

Crying happens to be one of the few times when people take off the mask they typically show to the world. I don't see how that's ugly at all.

People are beautiful when they cry.

Free emotions, which is always fun for us free-loaders.

Start crying, damnit. Do I need to punch you?

Take off the mask, you bastard. Show me what you really look like.

I once told an ex-fling of mine that she never looked more beautiful than the time she failed at trying to hide the fact that she was crying because she had to leave me to move to New York. Granted, she was teary-eyed and pouting, not all-out bawling, but you get my point. I find some girls quite gorgeous when they cry (as morbid as that sounds. Heh).

But, for you, I'm guessing it's simply the fact that their faces change so drastically from their normal, everyday, relaxed appearance. That deviation, I'm guessing, throws them into your "ugly" category.

My theory is this: Good people never cry, this is a fact.

People with bad (or ugly character) are the only people you will see crying because crying is for the weak.

Crying is when people take off the mask they typically show to the world and show their true colors(character.)

And since only people with ugly personalities cry, you will only ever see an ugly person when you see someone cry, because you wont see a good person ever cry. Ever.

      QED Biatch.

Ha! Same here. ECL I wholeheartedly disagree with your opinion.

I really appreciate a guy who isn't afraid to cry when he needs to. It melts my heart.

Any man who is afraid to cry is a nancy.

That said, a man differs from a woman in that he should only cry about important things, and should maintain his composure whenever possible. So, crying about broken fingernails is probably out for us. And sport.

Crying in and of itself is nothing ugly.

It more depends on the reason.

The tears shed at a funeral are much more beautiful than those shed in a preschool.

I never wanted to show my tears, don't know why really. I don't like to cry, of course at times it helps to relieve some things. I don't find it ugly when people cry.

I guess according to the posters it's a matter of personal opinion. Some see it as beautiful and some see it ugly. It's beatiful because it's the truth, but it can be ugly because it's an expression of a negative emotion (unless of course "tears of joy" really do exist...)

Crying is letting go of the mask and stuff? What about people who abuse crying, who cry to get attention and pity? Aren't they still masked, just more cleverly? And I don't think those are rare.

Didn't know it was chauvinistic to acknowledge that the sexes have differences in psyche as well as biology. Is it OK if I still expect the woman to bear the child?

      P.S. Love you too.

I don't like it when people cry. Their faces go all scrunchy. This is no good thing.

That was your first contradiction. It can't be a theory if it is a fact. Otherwise your theory would become law. +2 points for trolling though.

We probably subconsciously see someone crying as having emotional baggage that we don't want to deal with so or brain says "stay away from that"
