Need help with an odd problem

I don't remember quite when this started, but I'm sure it's been more than a few months.

Every night when I lay down in bed, just as I'm on the line between wakefulness and sleep, I notice that this problem is about to happen and wake back up. A few seconds later, my saliva production seems to go into overdrive, even if I swallow repeatedly, and I get an odd feeling at the back of my mouth, sort of up and to the left, just behind the last tooth. (I don't know how to describe it other than odd) A few seconds after that, I start to gag, and it gets increasingly worse until I take a drink of water. The longest I've lasted without water is around 30 seconds to a minute, at which point it feels like I'm about to throw up.

After drinking some water, it either goes away for the night, or it might happen a couple more times within the next few minutes, it varies. It only ever happens when I'm in bed, and the first time is always right on that line between wakefulness and sleep. It really makes getting to sleep a pain, because it takes 2-3 times longer than it normally would.

I've tried drinking lots of water right before I go to bed, and making sure to brush the area where I get the odd feeling when I brush my teeth before bed, but neither seem to help. It happens every night, without fail. It doesn't seem to happen if I wake up later and go back to sleep.

So, anyone experienced this problem themselves, or have any idea how to fix it?

I think you should definetely go to a doctor for this, not once have I heard of people nearly having to gag because of swallowing. I can imagine how much of a nuissance that would be .

Maybe gag was the wrong word. It's not gagging like when you're choking, it's more like when you feel queasy and you might be sick, which I figure is related to the sugary taste of the saliva, which I forgot to mention in the first post. That stuff is released when you're about to vomit to protect your mouth from the acid.

The reason I haven't been to the doctor is because I don't want to end up spending upwards of an hour waiting for them to see me, and then have them prescribe something. I don't get free prescriptions any more because I'm no longer in full time education. If it ever gets to the point of actually causing pain or severe discomfort, then it'll be worth going.

The main nuisance is the fact that it wakes me up. I usually roll over right away and take a drink, so I don't even get as far as the odd sensations. Oh, and swallowing does help, it just doesn't fix the problem like a drink of water does.

Do you keep your phone on/near your bed?
I used it as an alarm and it kept me awake in bed for over a week.
It turns out that phone radiation can keep you from sleeping.

Wow, I did not know that. I keep a phone by my bed as an alarm, because it's the only clock in my room. I don't actually use it for calls much though, pretty much only for emergencies. (The articles I checked don't seem to mention whether it's actual calls or just handling the phone that lessens the amount of non-REM you get. One such article can be found here: Mobile phone radiation wrecks your sleep - Health News - Health & Families - The Independent)

I may have to leave it across the room for the next few days and see if it makes any difference.

Ask a doctor about this problem. it's a health issue and not any part of a sleep or a dream. the doctor can recommend medications for that.

Not much help on this original topic, but I highly doubt that cell phone radiation has much president for affecting people. (Especially since the maximum output power cell phones are allowed is 3.6 watts, and the 50-watt radio rigs me and my family and friends use have never had any effect on us.)
Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week; you have a schedule, a calendar... Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. Man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures.
A fear of time running out.
