      Converting MP3 files to WAV

      I hope this is the right section to post this in. I also hope you can tell me how to convert MP3 files to WAV format. I'm a noob, you see.

      I prefer the program foobar2000. It can play and convert most any audio format. Very intuitive and no need to wait for an online server to convert them for you.

      I recommend Audacity or if you are prepared to use a demo or pay for software Switch, which is just awesome. Both work on OSX or Windows.
      May I ask why you want to do this? I am pretty sure an MP3 file will be smaller than a WAV.

      I wanted to splice an instrumental on FL Studios but it's in MP3 format and, as far as I know, the audio file needs to be in WAV in order to be spliced.

      Audacity's the way to go - it's free and very easy to use - just open the mp3 file, then file > export as wav.

      I also need wav files because my video editing program won't take mp3.
